IT Applications Systems Developer bei The Minnesota Star Tribune

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented IT Applications & Systems Developer to join our dynamic IT team. This role is responsible for designing, developing, modernizing, and supporting enterprise applications and reporting tools that are critical to core business operations. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into robust, maintainable solutions that align with the organization's strategic objectives and technical standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with business units and stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver tailored, high-impact application solutions.
• Support, maintain, and enhance existing enterprise applications and reporting tools.
• Modernize and refactor legacy systems to meet current technology standards and improve maintainability.
• Translate business logic into functional design specifications and technical implementations.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including planning, coding, testing, deployment, and ongoing support.
• Ensure development aligns with the organization’s architectural standards and IT strategy.
• Develop and maintain documentation, including workflows, technical specs, and end-user guides.

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience in application development and systems analysis.
• Hands-on experience with relational databases and SQL (preferably Microsoft SQL Server), including schema design, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
• Proficiency in software development methodologies and coding best practices.
• Experience with legacy and modern web application development using VB.NET, RESTful APIs, XML/JSON.
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.
• Ability to quickly learn new tools, technologies, and business processes.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Microsoft Power Platform is a plus.

Salary/Wage Range:

$80,000 - $90,000 / year
