Job Description:
The student worker will support the varsity esports team by leading the technical execution and production quality of live broadcasts and stream content. Working alongside the brand integration staff and esports director, this position will manage the streaming environment, operate production software, and ensure a high-quality viewer experience. This role will assist the esports program's growth and influence by professionalizing the program's streams and broadcasts, giving students the experiences of working in and around a dynamic and emerging sport that is a key University strategic initiative.
Job Functions
The student worker will manage and operate all technical aspects of live esports broadcasts for varsity matches; Configure and maintain the streaming environment, including PC hardware, networking, and production software (e.g., OBS); Design and implement high-quality visual overlays, scene transitions, and graphical elements for the stream; Direct the live flow of the broadcast, including camera switching, audio mixing, and integrating commentary and player feeds; Troubleshoot technical issues in real-time to ensure consistent stream quality and minimize downtime.
Qualifications and Responsibilities
•    Broadcast Management: Lead the pre-production setup, technical execution, and post-production breakdown of all official varsity esports live streams and broadcast events.
•    Software Operation: Exhibit proven proficiency with professional live streaming software such as OBS, Streamlabs, vMix, or equivalent broadcast production suites.
•    Technical Setup: Configure and maintain all necessary streaming hardware, including cameras, capture cards, microphones, audio mixers, and production PCs.
•    Visual Integration: Implement and manage dynamic on-screen graphics, score overlays, video clips, and sponsor placements to enhance the viewer experience.
•    Quality Control: Proactively monitor video and audio feeds, network stability, and frame rate to ensure a consistently high-quality, professional broadcast.
•    Team Collaboration: Work with casters, content creators, and the Brand Integration staff to align broadcast content and visuals with established branding and marketing goals.
•    Technical Skills: Strong understanding of PC hardware, networking protocols, and video encoding standards relevant to live streaming.
•    Problem-Solving: Proven ability to rapidly diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues under the pressure of a live environment.
•    Work Ethic: Highly reliable, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
•    Knowledge: Familiarity with the competitive esports landscape, popular game titles, and the expectations of a professional esports broadcast.
•    Support marketing and communications strategies and perform duties accordingly.
•    Exhibit a willingness to take initiative and work independently and collaboratively.
•    Ability to comply with University policies.
•    Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
