Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel Position  
Location: Council Bluffs, IA 
Job Type: Travel Contract   
Duration: 13 weeks  
Shift: 3x12s Nights 
Pay: $2255.40/week 
Completion Bonus: Up to $7,500 total. (You will receive $2,500 after the successful completion of each of your first 3 contracts with us)

Job Description:  

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Stepdown RN for a fast-paced, 22-bed unit specializing in intermediate care. This role requires a high degree of clinical autonomy, strong cardiac interpretation skills, and proficiency in managing titratable cardiac drips. The ideal candidate maintains a positive, team-oriented attitude and is prepared for frequent admissions and discharges. Flexibility for floating to the ICU and commitment to strict professional standards are mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:  

• Initiate, titrate, and manage cardiac drips (e.g., Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro), strictly adhering to protocols.
• Expertly read and interpret all Tele strips and cardiac rhythms, promptly recognizing life-threatening changes.
• Manage and troubleshoot non-invasive ventilation equipment like CPAP/BiPAP.
• Care for patients with acute conditions, including heart failure, respiratory distress, Afib, and stroke.
• Rapidly assess and intervene using ACLS protocols to stabilize deteriorating patients and facilitate safe transfers.
• Maintain meticulous and accurate records of assessments and titrations in the EPIC system.
• Collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary team, often operating in a high-volume setting where the Charge Nurse takes a full patient assignment.

Qualifications:  

• Active RN license in Iowa.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications. 
• Minimum of 1-2 years of recent recent OR nursing experience.
• COVID vaccine and recent TB test are required.
