Shift: 3x12s Nights
Pay: $2077.20/week
Completion Bonus: Up to $7,500 total. (You will receive $2,500 after the successful completion of each of your first 3 contracts with us)
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly specialized and compassionate Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse (RN) to provide expert critical care to premature and critically ill infants. This vital role involves managing a wide spectrum of neonatal conditions, including respiratory distress, cardiac anomalies, surgical repairs, and feeding difficulties, often utilizing highly specialized technology and life support systems. The NICU RN works closely with neonatologists, respiratory therapists, and the baby's family, acting as the primary advocate for the most fragile patient population. The ideal candidate possesses exceptional assessment skills, quick critical thinking, and a deep commitment to developmental care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, comprehensive nursing care for Level II, III, or IV NICU patients, including critically ill newborns, micro-preemies, and infants requiring advanced support like mechanical ventilation, oscillation, or specialized therapies.
- Perform continuous, specialized physiological monitoring, interpret complex data (e.g., blood gases, central line pressures), and initiate life-saving interventions as needed.
- Assist with and manage complex procedures, including intubation, central line insertion (UAC/UVC), chest tube placement, and phototherapy.
- Oversee and manage specialized feeding protocols, including total parenteral nutrition (TPN) and delicate tube feedings.
- Provide intensive education, emotional support, and counseling to parents and families navigating the stress of having a critically ill newborn.
- Maintain meticulous and accurate documentation of all assessments, procedures, and interventions in the electronic health record (EHR).
Qualifications:
- Active RN license in Texas.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of recent dedicated experience in a Level III or higher NICU setting.
- COVID vaccine and recent TB test may be required.
