Role

The purpose of this position is to maintain and operate equipment to keep production at optimum levels of efficiency and quality.


Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for achieving machine uptime goals
  • Correctly set up and operate production equipment
  • Coordinate equipment improvements with maintenance and process teams
  • Execute equipment changeovers 
  • Perform maintenance to prevent breakdowns and reduce times
  • Report emergency repair needs, and log needed future repairs
  • Analyze and determine root cause for equipment downtime
  • Train new team members in specific duties and machine safety
  • Read and mix to ingredient sheets
  • Organize and input paperwork for production runs
  • Assist in training new GPF employees
  • Go to person for all HACCP, SSOP and SQF information
  • Coordinate equipment improvements with maintenance and process teams
  • Complete end of day paperwork
  • Problem solve/troubleshoot machine issues
  • Assist and back-up CIP operator with sanitation changeover 
  • Help create and develop programs, processes, training criteria

Education & Training Requirements 

  • High school diploma or GED required

Work Experience Requirements

  • 1+ year of food manufacturing experience
  • Experience in operating HMI, PLC, and enclosed systems
  • Pasteurization operating experience a plus
  • CIP systems experience 
  • Understanding of ERP systems
  • Working with GMPs and SQF guidelines

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Ability to stand, kneel, bend, climb, push, pull for up to 10 hours a day
  •  Exposure to variation in temperature 
  • Ability to climb ladders of various heights
  • Ability to use and understand computers and technical systems

Expectations

  • Experience in operating HMI and PLC
  • Ability to problem solve complex situations involving process and equipment
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures, and machinery
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to understand and decipher written and verbal communication
  • Understand and adhere to GMP and SQF policies
  • Follow all safety guidelines as monitored by regulatory authorities
  • HACCP certified within 30 days
