POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Director of Community Outreach, manage the daily operations of the Teen Program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Adhere to policies, procedures and regulations of the YMCA of Greater Springfield.
- A strong focus on administrative responsibilities and programming for our Outreach Centers.
- Manage, oversee and develop Outreach group leaders ensuring they are capable of facilitation of required program.
- Seek out and utilize interns and volunteers from local colleges and institutions to further enhance the strengths and abilities of your Outreach center.
- Develop and delegate the implementation of teen programs that include, but are not limited to;
- Monthly programs and calendars, Leader's Club, Youth in Government, Sports leagues, Field trips, Journalism and literacy.
- Oversee and supervise staff run programs and activities.
- Work with staff to ensure a safe environment for participants.
- Incumbent must maintain high standards for all staff and programming.
- He/she must promote the best practices of customer service.
- Assist in the development of new programs.
- Must represent the YMCA in a professional manner and promote a positive and cheerful environment during each work shift.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate Degree is preferred but may be waived for a candidate with the equivalent years of experience in similar and related field.
- Must have, or be willing to earn, and maintain CPR and First Aid certification(s).
- 2 years’ experience in programming and activity planning.
- Experience working with youth and teens between 11 and 19 years of age.
- Proven leadership skill and a strong ability to organize and lead others.
- Ability to work with a diverse population.
