The role you’ll contribute:

The Physician Assistant, under the supervision of the Physician who acts as the supervising practitioner, is responsible for providing care for patients of the practice within the scope of licensure and within the supervising physician’s scope of practice. The performance of this position requires substantial specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skill based upon applied principles of psychological, biological, physical, and social sciences.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

·               Performing physical examinations of patients evaluation and treatment of injuries or illnesses for pediatric through geriatric patients

·               Ordering and interpreting appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc

·               Monitoring the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed

·               Displays knowledge and skill to care for the adult patient in a clinical setting

·               Documents essential history information and physical exam components that support the derived diagnosis and appropriate treatment plan as reviewed

·               Demonstrates sense of judgment by appropriate counseling, referrals and orders as documented on the record

·               Interprets diagnostic testing appropriately; refers abnormal results to physician for review when necessary

·               Appropriately refers to supervising physician or other healthcare provider when needed

·               Handles on-call responsibilities for own patients

·               Attends and/or presents in-service programs; utilizes available educational material for personal professional development

·               Accumulates appropriate continuing education units in time limits set by state and national registries to insure that licensure is current at all times

·               Displaying a caring and professional attitude at all time as well as maintaining personal and professional growth

·               Collaborate with physician supervisor and staff, as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff.

·               Continuously strives to improve patient satisfaction by going above and beyond their expectations

·               Pro-actively initiate quality improvement ideas/suggestions

·               Support the development of staff teamwork by being willing to assist patients, visitors and co-workers when necessary to facilitate a smooth workflow.

·               Maintain the confidentiality of employees' and patients' administrative and medical information, with no infractions.

·               Adhere to the FHHD Corporate Compliance Plan, and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.

·               Must be willing to float to other FHHD practices, within reason, when patient load, vacation schedules etc. make it necessary

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

·         Successful completion of an approved Physician’s Assistant Program

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

  • State of Florida License in Physician Assistant 

  • BLS
