Senior Functional Safety Engineer for Functional Safety Governance Team

Functional Safety Governance Team -  We enable, ensure and evolve effective and efficient Functional Safety in the development of Mercedes-Benz cars. We provide the framework of processes, methods and tools for the Mercedes-Benz Cars organization to implement effective and efficient Functional Safety.  We assess and confirm the successful achievement of Functional Safety in our products. We continuously improve the existing framework and evolve towards innovations.  We identify and close gaps by developing new methods. We use our expertise to positively influence external standardization activities. We train and empower the organization to achieve an excellent functional safety culture.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead in defining and implementing effective & efficient functional safety (FuSa) PMT (Process, Methods, Tools) in RD according to ISO 26262 Standard
  • Lead and own HARA & FuSa Management work packages globally
  • Verify that required safety levels (based on ASIL) are fulfilled in safety activities
  • Evaluate compliance of safety work products (HARA, FSC, TSC, safety analyses, test results, safety case) 
  • Check consistency and completeness of documentation, processes, and implementation
  • Participate & contribute in national and international functional safety working groups
  • Conduct FuSa Trainings
  • Generate MSR covering all aspects or parameters of Project / FuSa and report to the management
  • Perform FuSa Assessments globally
  • Conduct periodic meetings with all stakeholders to ensure planned activities performed
  • Inform the project manager development (EE) and the line manager about risks in FuSa progress regarding the MDS
  • Ensure a consistent review and assessment standard for FuSa work products in RD
  • Represent MBC interests of FuSa in national / international committees
  • Contribution to Safety Culture

     

     

    Required Skills: 

  • Strong expertise in ISO 26262 Road vehicles - Functional safety
  • Proven experience in safety management, HARA, FSC, and TSC
  • Exposure to  ECU development lifecycle (requirements, design, HW/SW integration, verification & validation) 
  • Exposure to automotive systems (ADAS, powertrain, chassis, body, or infotainment)
  • Thorough understanding of Software development lifecycle and methodologies
  • Proficiency with safety analysis methods (FMEA, DFA and FTA) and tools (Medini, ISO graph etc.) 
  • Strong problem-solving, documentation skills
  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Must possess the skills to work and lead initiatives or topics independently interfacing with various stakeholders
  • Exposure to international projects and global stakeholder management
  • Result-oriented, Team Player, Analytical & Customer Focused.

Basic Qualification:

  • Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Computer Science/Electrical & Electronics/Information Technology

     

     

    Preferred Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of the German language
  • Knowledge and experience working with ADAS systems, exposure to appropriate regulations and standards for different markets
  • ASPICE Standard Know-How
  • Functional Safety L1/L2 Certified
