Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced AS/400 Developer to design, develop, and maintain applications on the IBM (AS/400) platform. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in RPG, CL, DB2/400, and system integration, with an ability to work closely with business users and technical teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and high-performance solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and deploy applications on the IBM iSeries (AS/400) platform
Develop and maintain programs using RPG (RPGLE, RPG/400), CL, SQL/400, and DB2/400
Analyze existing code to identify performance improvements and modernization opportunities
Support application integration with ERP systems and external platforms
Participate in requirement gathering, technical design, and documentation
Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues in a timely manner
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including business analysts, QA, and infrastructure
Provide technical support for system enhancements, patches, and upgrades
Ensure compliance with coding standards, change management, and security guidelines
Required Skills
Programming Languages: RPGLE, RPG/400, CLLE, SQL/400
Database: DB2/400, Query/400, SQLRPG
Tools/Utilities: SEU, SDA, RLU, PDM, DFU, Turnover (or similar change management tools)
Strong understanding of AS/400 architecture, job scheduling, and security concepts
Experience with application modernization or integration with web-based systems is a plus
Proficient in performance tuning, debugging, and code optimization
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., Infor, or SAP interfaces)
Familiarity with REST/SOAP APIs or middleware integration on IBM
Exposure to DevOps tools or modernization projects (e.g., migration from RPG to Java/.NET)
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience .
