Position Summary:

The Imprint Production Lead is responsible to follow work orders, work instructions/SOPs, perform duties to operate manufacturing machinery, inspect, package final product, and performs Lead Operator duties while adhering to Good Manufacturing/Documentation Practices standards.  Imprint Production Lead must also verify equipment needed prior to the start of production.

 

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Following SAI safety procedures including PPE USE.
  • Apply lean 6S principles.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Ability to back up production lines as needed.
  • Able to cross trains in multiple departments.
  • Following scrap escalation process.
  • Able to enter data in daily tracks if required.
  • Responsible for leading employees engaged in operations.  Check work, resolve operating difficulties, train. Perform random visual inspection of final product.
  • Print Work Order Packet from computer including: Work Order, Assembly Specification, Approved Label Standard, Shipper Labels, Inner Labels (where required).
  • Monitor shift operations and communicate to Assistant Manager any materials, machine or personnel issues.
  • Ensure that specifications are met by using PDXpert.
  • Record production downtime, scrap, rejected materials and output. 
  • Assist Operators with resolution of normal operating and/or material difficulties.  Report excessive problems and material shortages to Assistant Manager.
  • Ensure no debris on product and air clean carton if dusty.
  • Replenish cartons, paper, wrap and product as needed.
  • Monitor the quality of the product being packaged for proper orientation, correct date on labels.
  • Place product into bags /boxes specified on work order and label appropriately.  Pack bags into cartons and apply appropriate label.
  • Initiate changeover paperwork, notify maintenance of need for changeover, perform first piece inspection and sign off on paperwork.
  • Inform Assistant Manager of material shortages.
  • Rework or designate rejected product as non-conforming, tear down product and return good materials to the appropriate location.
  • Will be trained and in other areas of manufacturing and perform other duties as assigned duties as assigned.
  • Give pre-meeting huddles to organize team and communicate with off shifts on status of department.
  • Assist Operators with resolution or normal operating, printing or material difficulties by adjusting machine settings. Report excessive problems to Assistant Manager and contact maintenance to repair equipment.
  • Complete appropriate Changeover documentation and assure that Line Clearance on and around the machine has been completed.
  • Record production downtime, scrap, rejected materials and output, both manually and electronically.
  • Completes work schedule off dispatch, places product on hold, goes over any validation processes.
  • Inform Assistant Manager, Material Handler, and/or Shop Floor Coordinator of material shortages.
  • Ensure no debris on product and materials.
  • Perform random visual inspection of final product.
  • Place product on Department Hold. Rework or designate rejected product as nonconforming, tear down product and return good materials to the appropriate location directed by the Assistant Manager.
  • Responsible for leading employees engaged in packaging operations. Check work, resolve operating difficulties, train.
  • Capable of knowing and operating on all machines in the Department.
  • Communicate with planners, engineers, mechanics, management, QA.
  • Follow safety rules and keep work area in a clean and orderly condition ensuring that only materials from current job are present at the machine.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Replenish materials such as cartons, cards, literature, blisters, PVC and lid stock as needed.
  • Monitor the quality of the product being packaged for proper orientation, correct date stamp and clear and complete wrap or package.
  • Scan or input Pick List (Customer Order) data into packaging machine to prepare for order production.
  • Adjust and fix simple jams or contact maintenance for complex problems.
  • Ability to read, understand and navigate HMI (Human Interface Panel) in order to reset common faults and restart the system.
  • Stop and reset the machine when malfunctions occur. Clear machine jams and report malfunctions to mechanic.

     

    Education

    • Ability to complete Sunstar Departmental Training matrix and Training Checklist
    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
    • Some college is preferred

     

    Knowledge/Experience

    • Prior manufacturing experience required

    • Must be able to read, speak and comprehend written work instructions that are presented in English for the effective performance of the position.
    • Good communication skills and detail oriented

    • Must be able to communicate to all levels of the organization

        The pay range for this position Lead II is $24.50 to 34.31 plus applicable shift differential. However, base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location. This position is also eligible for a bonus depending on company performance.
