Crisis Response Mental Health Specialist

Are you looking for a meaningful opportunity to make a difference in your community?

Recovery Resources, a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to mental and behavioral health services, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Crisis Response Mental Health Specialist to join our innovative crisis response team. This is a community-based role focused on responding to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis—providing de-escalation, stabilization, and linkage to needed services.

About the Role:

Developed in partnership with the Shaker Heights Police and Fire Departments, the Crisis Intervention Specialist plays a vital part in responding to mental health emergencies alongside—but independent of—first responders. The primary goal of this program is to minimize immediate risk, prevent harm, and reduce unnecessary use of emergency departments, police interventions, or inpatient hospitalizations.

You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians and peer support specialists, using a city-owned vehicle to provide immediate on-site care, follow-ups, and wellness checks throughout the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide rapid, in-person crisis intervention and clinical support in coordination with first responders
  • Provide de-escalation, stabilization and linkage to needed services
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians and peer support specialists
  • Use a city-owned vehicle to provide immediate on-site care
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation as required by program deliverables and departmental, local, state and federal policy and requirements

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
  • Life insurance
  • Retirement plan
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • Generous paid time off
  • 10 paid holidays + 2 floating holidays
  • Supportive, mission-driven culture with opportunities for growth

If you're committed to enhancing public safety and mental health through compassionate crisis intervention, we invite you to apply and be part of a forward-thinking team making a real impact.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Clinical Counseling, or related human services field
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, in crisis intervention, mental health or related field
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and in high stress situations
  • A commitment to and interest in the mission of the department to enhance public safety through community-centered approaches to prevention and intervention

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in crisis response, mobile crisis teams, or co-responder programs
  • Knowledge of local mental health resources and systems of care
  • Ability to work independently in dynamic environments
