Description

The Orthopedic Surgery Center in Camp Hill, PA, is seeking experienced Pre-Op / PACU Registered Nurses (RN). The Pre-Op / PACU RN will coordinate and provide patient care to adult and pediatric patients, in accordance with established and accepted standards of care, policies and procedures, state and federal regulations, and accepted accreditation standards. The Pre-Op / PACU RN will promote a positive reflection of the center to physicians, patients, and visitors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for patient’s admission and pre-operative care; holistic preparation for surgery, considering all needs, including pre-operative education, escort/family members, psychosocial needs, utilizing preference cards, and acting under established protocols, practices, and standing orders.
  • Coordinates pre-operative lab work required for individual patients, documenting and reporting pertinent results.
  • Responsible for the patient’s post-operative care and stabilization; holistic preparation for return to the home environment, considering all needs, including post-discharge care, escort/family members, educational and psychosocial needs, utilizing preference cards and acting under established protocols, practices, and standing orders.
  • Safe discharge of the patient, giving holistic and thorough discharge education.
  • All other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

The Pre-Op / PACU RN must have a minimum of two years’ experience in the surgical suite setting, pre/post experience, critical care and ER experience preferred; an active, unrestricted license in the state of Pennsylvania; and BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification. The successful candidate must have the ability to work independently as well as function within a team; have the ability to assess patient needs, determine priorities, plan and direct pre/post-operative care of the patient; present good public relation skills; and possess the ability to handle stress.


WORK SCHEDULE

We offer Monday – Friday all day shift with no weekends, holidays, or on call.
