Job Summary
The Advanced Life Support (ALS) Education Specialist works in the Department of Education and Professional Practice under the supervision of the Manager of Education. The ALS Education Specialist is responsible for providing life support training in accordance with the American Heart Association (AHA) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) guidelines.
Essential Functions
Provides basic and advanced cardiac life support education through scheduled classes. Teaches a minimum of 12 classes/year.
Supports community-based life support education programs.
Assists in directing the design, implementation and evaluation of Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley life support educational programs.
Develops proficiency with equipment for classes.
Assists in maintaining educational files for the training center.
Attends and completes all training center update meetings and required training including online education.
Provides remediation as needed for class participants according to program guidelines.
Assess class participants' learning needs in relation to their position competencies.
Serves as a mentor to other instructors in the Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley training center.
Assists in set up, maintenance, and security of instructional material, mannikins, reference material, and equipment, including audio-visual equipment.
Maintains security of all teaching materials including tests, answer key(s), and provider cards.
Ensures equipment is cleaned according to Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley Infection Control and manufacturer's recommendations.
Communicates with the AHA Training Center Coordinator and Manager of Education regarding availability for classes and changes in schedule.
Employee must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the C-I-CARE Standards of the Hospital. C-I-CARE is the foundation of Stanford Medicine Healthcare Tri-Valley’s patient-experience and represents a framework for patient-centered interactions
Job Qualifications
Education
Associate Degree required
Bachelor’s Degree desirable
Experience
Minimum of two years of education/teaching experience preferred
Minimum of two years of respective clinical field experience (i.e. Registered Nurse, Respiratory Care Practitioner, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, etc.)
License/Certifications
Current American Heart Association BLS Certification
Current American Heart Association ACLS Certification
Current American Heart Association PALS Certification desirable
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong organizational and presentation skills
Strong oral/written communications skills
Experience with teaching adult learners;
Strong computer skills: Word/Excel/Power Point
Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong customer service skills

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $42.24 - $54.60 per hourThe salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
