JOB SUMMARY:

Develops and leads procurement standards and strategies to drive efficiencies as well as identifies and leads improvement activities in processes and systems.

 

ESSENTIAL/PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Identifies best practices both internally to the Central Purchasing team as well as cross-functionally with other teams that interface with Central Purchasing. Prioritizes opportunities for improvement.
  • Aligns and partners with Operations, Global Sourcing, I.T., Demand Planning, Logistics, and Operation Buyers.
  • Identifies and leads system improvements and manages data integrity.
  • Identifies and leads purchasing projects to support business objectives.
  • Identifies and executes testing related to software implementation and upgrades; prioritizes constraints and develops contingency plans.
  • Leads the team in developing standards that improve effectiveness and productivity.
  • Supports integrations to meet project deliverables.
  • Collaborates across sites to ensure alignment with “One Midmark” strategies.
  • Provides leadership, mentoring, and coaching to elevate departmental, procurement skills and knowledge.

 

SECONDARY DUTIES:

  • Coordinates closely with manager to ensure that strategic team direction is actionable and achievable.
  • Fields and addresses technical questions from Operation Buyers.
  • Utilizes Midmark Production System (MPS) knowledge to drive improvements.
  • Backfills Operation Buyer roles.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in supply chain, business or engineering or related field and 5+ years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

COMPETENCY and/or SKILL: 

  • Advanced mathematical and statistical skills
  • Advanced analytical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Self-motivated to lead improvement efforts with minimal oversight or direction
  • Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders in areas that fall under this position’s subject matter expertise
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Advanced Microsoft application skills
  • Knowledge of ISO/FDA Standards
  • Systems understanding of Oracle or similar ERP systems as it relates to purchasing and material management

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • May provide short-term coverage for manager, if necessary
