Job Description Summary
Organization's Summary Statement:The Department of Residential Facilities is responsible for the maintenance and housekeeping services for the College Park Campus' 70+ residence halls, Greek chapter houses, and recreational facilities encompassing over 2.7 million square feet. The department employs over 300 exempt, non-exempt, and student staff.
Primarily Responsibilities:
The Access System Coordinator position is responsible for system management and administration of the electronic card access system installed in on-campus housing facilities, as well as for managing, administering, and training on policies and procedures associated with access cards for on-campus housing. Other responsibilities include establishing and setting up time zones and access levels, managing schedules, locking and unlocking access as needed, reporting and analysis within this system, and planning and coordinating with users of these systems within and outside the department. Incumbent manages an annual budget of approximately $3,000 and assists the Access System Manager in the formulation and management of services contracted related to electronic access control. Daily system checks will be performed and verified during regular business hours, both in the morning and afternoon, to ensure that all security devices are adequately secured unless otherwise specified. The Access System Coordinator is supervised by the Access System Manager within the Facilities Maintenance unit.
Preferences:
Experience managing a similar program in a university or institutional Residential Facilities setting.
Experience with using Lenel OnGuard security system application or programming of a comparable security system to manage and edit all associated system-related child items is preferred.
Experience working with electronic telecommunications inventory systems
Physical Demands:
Regular office environment with the occasional need to operate a department vehicle to pick up and/or deliver printed materials or other documents and supplies on campus and locally.
Normal office environments include keyboarding, drafting correspondence, planning/documentation, and taking notes. Lifting boxes/packages weighing up to 25 lbs.
May be asked to assist with and/or support department-wide activities in the residence halls and other campus buildings, which may require walking in and between buildings and climbing stairs.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: One (1) year of professional security system experience.
Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of installation, operation, maintenance, and testing of electronic security systems, CCTV, fire safety, mechanical locks and related data communication equipment.
Knowledge of programming alarm systems and troubleshooting security access systems.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Ability to prioritize assignments.
Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
Ability to multitask while demonstrating a commitment to customer service.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This position requires an on-site presence. May be able to work remotely one day per week.
Incumbent may be required to work weekends, evenings, and off-hours, particularly around breaks and holidays, to coordinate and manage peak workloads.
As an exempt employee, the incumbent will be expected to work the hours needed to manage the duties of their position. Some evening and weekend work may be required.
This position is an essential employee related to catastrophic, weather, or other emergencies and may be required to come to campus when the University is closed.
