TITLE: Facilities Coordinator
STATUS: Full Time, 12 Month Position with state health benefits and state retirement
SALARY: $45,000 - $50,000 based on experience
REPORTS TO: Operations Manager
SUMMARY:
Voyager Academy is a K-12 public charter school located on a 22 acre campus in Durham, NC. The Facilities Coordinator will work closely with the Managing Director and Leadership team to support the safe and efficient operation of school facilities and the maintenance of all school property. The Facilities Coordinator will supervise all outside contractors and new construction projects as needed and ensure all repairs and improvements meet all required codes. The candidate should have general knowledge and experience with plumbing, electric, HVAC, painting, and general maintenance. Outlined below is list of specific areas of responsibility:
JOB RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Oversee all school facilities (including maintenance, custodial, and repair work)
- Maintain accurate records for room use, class occupancy, and fire code requirements
- Meet with school leadership to ensure that facilities information is up to date and repairs are being made as needed
- Determines maintenance priorities and sequence of work
- Develops a program of preventive maintenance and forecast 3 year and 5 year capital and expense repair projects
- Oversee outside contractors hired to perform facilities work
- Review all contractual agreements and warranties to ensure appropriate operation of all machinery and service
- Examine building on a regular basis and coordinate needed repairs and maintenance
- Supervise custodial services company and ensure that all contractual obligations and expectations are being met
- Coordinate with cleaning crew and/or custodian to ensure facility cleanup after all school events
- Schedule and complete required maintenance of all HVAC systems as necessary
- Arrange for annual inspections for fire, health, plumbing, and electric with the City
- Schedule required fire drills for Hock Media Center
- Assist in development and oversee procedures for campus control and security
- Schedule maintenance and inspection of Pond to meet City requirements
- Serve as point of contact for Alarm System and oversee maintenance of system
- Confirm fire evacuation routes throughout entire facility
- Maintain timeline for summer projects to prepare for opening of new school year
- Arrange for locker maintenance/repair at end of year
- Recruit and hire summer help as needed to complete maintenance projects
- Able to lift up to 100 pounds to be able move classroom furniture and files
- Assemble furniture, white boards, projectors, and TV systems as needed
- Responsible for overseeing the daily opening and closing of school facilities
- Develop emergency repair systems
- Devise programs aimed at reducing vandalism, theft and arson
- Maintain system for locking, checking and safe-guarding facility
- Maintain routine security procedures and inspect buildings and grounds
- Works cooperatively with local police on security matters
- Flexibility to work as needed to meet with contractors or respond to alarms or emergencies
- Holiday and Paid Time Off provided but expected to work full time during the summer and school breaks
