Job Description

To coordinate andprovide equipment and facility set-up for meetings, conferences, and specialevents; provide customer service to building patrons; monitor facility use andensure conformance with policies and procedures; perform facility maintenanceand cleaning; perform related work.

Examples of Duties
1. Facility Set-Up.
Typical duties: interprets event documents and diagrams to determine eventneeds including type, amount, and arrangement of equipment; prioritizes worksequencing and order of task completion considering current and future meetingroom usage and determines equipment to remain; identifies or anticipatesproblems such as room size, equipment changes, catering needs, and security requirementsand takes corrective action; determines spacing and line up of tables, chairs,and staging configurations symmetrically with appropriate aisles and serviceareas; determines head of room and best locations for visual aids; ensuresagainst line-of sight problems with seating arrangements and equipment; appliesknowledge of fire safety codes and ADA guidelines to determine correct aislewidth and safe entries and exits; sets up seating, tables, staging, programaids, and equipment; sets up and troubleshoots audio-visual operationsincluding sound and lighting equipment such as sound systems, wirelessmicrophones, mixers, video and data projectors, and connects telephone andaudio data lines; recommends service improvements for all areas of the facility;monitors and controls facility environment including HVAC and lighting;observes facility and equipment to ensure compliance with risk managementobjectives and public safety; observes, responds to, and reports unusualoccurrences such as theft, vandalism, illness, and drug and alcohol relatedproblems; recommends safety and security solutions.

2. Customer Service.
Typical duties: provides customer service and communicates with facility usersto ensure event needs are met; assesses and resolves customer complaints;responds to last minute meeting room and audiovisual equipment changes orrequests; assists customers with set up of customer equipment; instructscustomers in the use of audio-visual equipment; assists customers and visitorswith directions and information regarding events; collects user feedback andreports program success and customer satisfaction; evacuates customers inemergencies.

3. Maintenance & Cleaning.
Typical duties: performs basic facility and equipment maintenance and cleaning;monitors cleanliness of facility; performs basic equipment repairs; replaceslight bulbs; performs special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
 
Some knowledge of:

-Adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing whole numbers.

Experience:

-Providing customer service.
-Explaining and applying policies and procedures.
-Using tools, equipment, materials, and common practices used in facility preparation including custodial work.
-Setting work priorities.
-Interpreting written and oral instructions.

SpecialtyRequirement

-Thesepositions at ISU require a valid driver's license.

SupplementalInformation

-This positioninvolves the following as part of the essential functions of the job:
-Repetitively lifting and carrying items weighing up to 60 pounds.
-Standing and walking during eight-hour shift.
-Bending, stooping, climbing stairs and ladders, and operating lifts.
-Requires working up to 30 feet above floor level.
-Incumbents must have sufficient speech & hearing acuity to perform customer service activities.
-Incumbents are subject to call-in for work during special events including evenings and weekends.
-Incumbents wear proper safety equipment when exposed to chemicals, toxins, or blood borne pathogens.

ISU minimum for this classification is $16.75/hour.
