Hike Guide bei Lake Austin Spa Resort

What You Will Do

Our Hiking Guide is physically active and has a love for the outdoors. You will oversee leading a daily hike of 3 or 5 miles through the scenic trails in Steiner Ranch. All hikes and courses are prescheduled and pre-mapped. Walks are scheduled daily for guests at 8:30 or 9 am. Guides must arrive 30 minutes before preparing gear and group vehicle transportation for the walk and guests. The return is approximately 2-2.5 hours later. 

Responsibilities

• Familiarize local terrain, climate, and any other potential hazards or risks that could arise during a trek. Then, monitor weather conditions and adjust plans accordingly.
• Ensure accurate navigation and route-finding. Develop safety protocols for each trip.
• Make accommodations for those with limited abilities.
• Provide instruction on safety and appropriate use of equipment.
• Educate clients on local flora, fauna, and geography.
• Ensure the safety of our clients and themselves as they explore the outdoors.
• Stay current with the latest techniques, regulations, and safety protocols.

Acquired Skills

• Positive attitude and friendly demeanor; team player and able to fill in as a substitute guide as needed. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Physically active and able to hike for extended periods.
• Prior experience in hospitality or interaction with guests

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum of 1-year experience hiking or certified hiking guide
• First Aid and CPR certification
• Must be approved to drive company vehicles.
• Must pass a background check.
