The Department of Biology at Wheeling University is seeking candidates for a full-time faculty position beginning in the spring semester of 2026. The successful candidate will be able to teach a variety of introductory and upper-level biology courses with accompanying labs.  

 

Applications will be reviewed beginning October 2025 and continue until the position is filled. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Teach a range of undergraduate biology courses, including labs, at both the introductory and upper levels. 

  • Advise and mentor undergraduate students in biology. 

  • Contribute to the development and support of departmental programs. 

  • Engage in appropriate professional development and scholarly activities. 

  • Fulfill standard faculty duties including course preparation, grading, assessments, and office hours. 

Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in Biology or a related field.  

  • A doctorate (PhD or equivalent) is strongly preferred 

  • Areas of expertise may include ecological and environmental sciences, though the position is intended to be broadly supportive of the biology curriculum.  

  • A background in chemistry is preferred
