POSITION SUMMARY
The Cabin Team Lead will further the mission of Roundup River Ranch by ensuring the camp culture, camp staff, and staff/camper interactions are in line with our guideposts at all times; supporting the cabin leaders in fulfilling their duties and expectations; welcoming volunteers each week and empowering them as members of the camp team; and maintaining a physically and emotionally supportive environment for campers. This residential role can expect to work extended days typical of a camp environment, with regular time off scheduled each day and at least 2 days off after each session.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Job Responsibilities: General
- Be actively involved in decision-making processes that are the responsibility of the leadership team
- Ensure all camp programs support the mission, vision, and values of Roundup River Ranch
- Attend and participate in all training, meetings, and planning sessions
- Act professionally and as a role model for campers, volunteers, and staff
- Nurture a culture of safety amongst all staff and ensure the camp property is respected
- Be fully aware of all safety and emergency procedures and execute procedures when required, including ensuring campers are aware of and understand the safety rules at activities and around camp
- Maintain camper and colleague confidentiality at all times, and respect the confidentiality of leadership team discussions/responsibilities
- Abide by and comply with all policies and procedures as listed in the staff contract, manual, and staff orientation
Job Responsibilities: Specific
- Ensure all cabin-based activities are in line with the Roundup River Ranch philosophy of intentional programming and are adaptable, inclusive, and medically safe for all campers in each cabin (ages 7-17)
- Ensure that cabins are physically and emotionally safe environments for campers at all times, and clean and tidy always.
- Work with the Assistant Camp Director - Cabin Life to ensure adequate training for all cabin leaders, volunteers, and all other staff relating to cabin responsibilities and support
- Integrate and support all volunteers and special guests at camp and provide them with training as needed, including but not limited to leading informational sessions during volunteer orientation
- Provide support and coaching for the cabin leaders through weekly, individual check-ins, regular feedback and an end of summer evaluation in conjunction with the Assistant Camp Director – Cabin Life
- Act as a resource for cabin leaders, providing motivation, encouragement and ideas
- Provide assistance with camper behavior support in conjuction with the Behavioral/Cabin Life team
- Be familiar with all information available on each group of campers including the medical and behavior alert lists, and any other information provided by the Medical Director, Camp Director, or Admissions Team
- Act as a lead Bus Chaperone throughout the summer to support the safety and organization of camper transportation to and from Denver; act in other leadership roles as directed by Admin Team.
- Distribute and maintain all cabin resource binders, and ensure all cabin paperwork is completed professionally and on time (i.e. camper profile sheets, volunteer evaluations, etc.)
- Coordinate camp-wide cabin support needs, such as toiletry distribution, supplementary bedding or clothing distribution, lost and found support, birthday/special moments support, and cabin supply needs; assist Program Team Lead as needed
- Lead and participate in camp set up and shut down for each session and the camp season
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
JOB COMPETENCIES

- Be able to identify emergency situations, either by seeing them happen, hearing cries for help, or hearing the emergency alert.
- Have the strength, endurance, and physical skills to respond quickly and appropriately to emergency situations, according to written emergency procedures and plans.
- Be able to demonstrate or participate in camp activities as they supervise and parallel play with campers: this will require the ability to walk, sit, climb, kneel, crouch, stoop, and stand.
- This role requires the ability to supervise campers in a variety of settings, including maintaining awareness of camper behavior and safety. These responsibilities may involve auditory and visual attention. Reasonable accommodations will be made for qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Age 19 years of age or older
- Preference will be given to candidates with 1-2 years of leadership experience
- Previous experience working with children and/or special needs populations
- Previous residential camp experience strongly preferred
- Passion for the Roundup River Ranch mission

Special Requirements
This is a residential position. Accommodation will be provided for the duration of the contract, and meals will be provided while camp is in session.
