The Rochester Education Justice Initiative (REJI), the University of Rochester's higher education in prison program, seeks dedicated adjunct instructors for the spring 2026 semester.
REJI provides rigorous, degree-granting college education to incarcerated students at three New York state prisons: Attica, Groveland and Wyoming. More information about the program may be found on REJI's website: www.sas.rochester.edu/reji.
REJI adjunct instructors will prepare for and teach a credit-bearing liberal arts course at one of the program sites between January 16, 2026, and May 15, 2026. Instructors can teach a survey course or a course focused on a specific area of research or study. Depending on the course topic and program needs, the course may be rostered at the University of Rochester or at partner institution Genesee Community College. Class meets once per week for fifteen weeks.
Duties include curriculum design, classroom instruction, grading course assignments and tests and regular communication with students and REJI staff. As necessary, the director of the program, in consultation with the dean, will assign and change the distribution of duties.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in the discipline of the course, or any master's degree plus 18 credit hours of graduate work in the discipline of the course.
