                                                       POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

POLICY:

 

 

TITLE:    ASSISTANT CHEERLEADING COACH

               GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP CAMPUS

 

QUALIFICATIONS:                                     

 

1.  New Jersey certification as a teacher or holder of a county substitute teacher’s certificate.

 

2.  Experience as a player and/or as a coach in a varsity sport coupled with a knowledge of

     the fundamentals, strategies, rules, etc. preferred.

 

3.  A philosophy consistent with the position goal and the policies of Camden County

     Technical School District.

 

4.  Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

 

5.  Strong interpersonal and communications skills.

 

6.  Successfully undergo a criminal history check and proof of the U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.

 

7.  Meet the health qualifications required of all personnel.

 

8.  Meets NJ residency requirements or willingness to relocate to NJ within 365 days of employment.

 

9.  Must follow the guidelines of the Camden County Technicals Schools' Nepotism Policy, File Code: 0142.1.

 

Interviews are at the discretion of the superintendent and/or designee and based on qualifications for the position.

POSITION GOAL:  

 

To assist each participating student to achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem.

 

REPORTS TO:  Supervisor assigned per the CCTS’ Organizational Chart

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Coaching Techniques:

 

1.         Coach individual participants in the skills necessary for successful achievement in the

             sport involved.

 

2.         Enforce disciplined and sportsmanlike behavior at all times.

 

Supervision:                        

 

1.         Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, supplies

             and facilities.

 

2.         Supervise all team members at all times while under the jurisdiction of the coaches

             including but not limited to locker rooms, buses and playing areas.

 

Relationships with Players, Staff, and Community:

 

1.         Establish performance criteria for team status in his/her sport.

 

2.         Help to foster a positive public image of our programs and practices.

 

3.         Assist student athletes in obtaining information relative to college placement and

             scholarships as appropriate with athlete’s ability.

 

Organizational Skills:

 

1.         Plan, organize and schedule a regular program of practice in season.

 

2.         Work closely with the director of athletics and student activities recommending officials

             and non league contests.

 

3.         Maintain necessary attendance forms, emergency medical records and similar required

             documentation.

 

4.         Abide by the rules and regulations of the school administration and follow the guidelines

            of the “CCTS Coaches Handbook.”

 

5.         Provide input on recommendations of equipment, supplies, uniforms and facilities as

             requested.

 

6.         Recommend purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms and maintains such as

            appropriate.

 

 7.         Assume responsibility for the issuance, collection and inventory of supplies, uniforms

             and equipment.

           

Professional Skills:

 

1.         Attend required meetings and keep current in techniques, strategies and rules of the

             sport.

 

2.         Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor per the CCTS’ Organizational

             Chart/or designee.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:    

 

Compensation in accordance with negotiated Agreement between the Education Association of CamVoc and the Board of Education.

 

EVALUATION:  

 

Performance of this job will be evaluated by the principal and/or director of athletics and student activities.
