Listed within this posting is the anticipated salary range for this position, plus variable incentive compensation. The final salary offered to a successful candidate may vary and will be dependent on several factors that include, but are not limited to, your business experience, education, and individual capacity. Harford Mutual is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The SIU Manager oversees the detection, investigation, and prevention of insurance fraud in property and casualty lines. Responsibilities include setting unit strategies, managing investigators, developing anti-fraud tactics, coordinating training on fraud indicators, and ensuring legal compliance.  

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Leadership & Oversight
•    Lead and manage the SIU team, ensuring effective investigation of suspected fraud, waste, and abuse
•    Develop and implement strategic plans, policies, and procedures for SIU
•    Monitor team performance and provide coaching, training, and development opportunities

 

Investigations Management
•    Oversee complex investigations involving internal and external parties, including providers, claimants, or employees
•    Ensure investigations are conducted in compliance with legal, regulatory, and company standards
•    Review and approve investigative reports, referrals, and case closures

 

Collaboration & Reporting
•    Collaborate with legal, compliance, claims, and law enforcement agencies as needed
•    Prepare and present detailed reports and metrics to senior management regarding SIU activities and outcomes
•    Maintain relationships with external investigative resources and industry groups

 

Regulatory Compliance
•    Ensure SIU operations comply with state and federal regulations, including reporting requirements
•    Stay current with fraud trends, regulatory changes, and investigative best practices

 

Technology & Data Analysis
•    Utilize data analytics tools to identify patterns and anomalies indicative of fraud
•    Recommend and implement technology solutions to enhance investigative capabilities

 

Budget & Resource Management
•    Manage SIU budget and allocate resources effectively to support investigative priorities
•    Evaluate and select vendors or consultants for specialized investigative services

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

•    Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience
•    Minimum 7 years of experience within an insurance carrier or third-party administrator’s SIU department
•    Experience conducting investigations related to insurance fraud, law enforcement, or civil/criminal litigation
•    Completion of designations related to fraud investigations (e.g., CFE, CIFI, FCLS, or similar)
•    Knowledge of property & casualty claim handling practices
•    Experience and knowledge of practices and techniques related to investigations and fact-finding
•    Experience investigating high-exposure or complex claims in property, general liability, auto liability, and workers’ compensation
