Position Summary:

An Assistant Professor of Nursing is a faculty member who is responsible for the education of nursing students, development of the College of Nursing, and the advancement of his/her professional development. 

Essential Functions:

• Teach and evaluate students in classroom, lab, and clinical settings.
• Plan, implement, and assess nursing curriculum and course outcomes.
• Advise and mentor students for academic and professional development.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff, and clinical partners to enhance learning.
• Maintain expertise in specialty area, teaching methods, and clinical practice.
• Support accreditation and program standards.
• Participate in committees and university activities.
• Foster a positive, professional learning environment and relationships.
• Work on-site 40+ hours weekly with student availability.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to meet challenges of adult students with diverse backgrounds.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Requirements

• Master's degree in nursing from an NLN-CNEA, ACEN or CCNE-accredited institution.
• Demonstrated current clinical experience in the area of specialty.
• Teaching experience in nursing at the postsecondary level (preferred). If none, attend seminars for nurse educators.
• Holds current, active RN license in Nevada or Utah based on location of primary appointment.

Work Conditions

• Work is mainly indoors with occasional travel between campuses and events, including out-of-state. Some evening or weekend duties and typical office noise are expected.
