A Day in the Life

We’re working a minimum of 4 days a week onsite as part of our commitment to fostering a culture of professional growth and cross-functional collaboration as we work together to engineer the extraordinary. This role will require 10% of travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the AME Equipment team at the MECC Brooklyn Center location. In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting the development of production equipment for advanced battery technology. Your project work will encompass new technology integration, equipment enhancements, and redesign initiatives. We’re seeking a technically skilled and ambitious individual with a strong background in mechanical, electrical, and software design.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Evaluate, select, and order equipment that is most appropriate and cost-effective for the manufacture of company products.
Oversee the installation, modification, and upgrade of manufacturing equipment, ensuring all activities adhere to Medtronic’s strict safety standards and protocols.
Identify and execute automation opportunities for equipment and technology implementation, taking ideas from concept through to production.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and customize electromechanical systems for manufacturing applications.
Program, troubleshoot, and optimize Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) to enhance equipment performance and reliability.
Support equipment mechanization and automation initiatives, guiding projects from business case development to successful implementation on the production floor.
Partners with vendors and suppliers to source, qualify, and integrate new equipment and technologies, ensuring alignment with project specifications and safety requirements.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
OR
Master's degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience
OR
PhD with 0 years relevant experience.
Nice To Have
Experience in implementing electromechanical equipment design
Experience with PLC, HMI and MES systems
Experience writing & executing equipment development documentation, such as Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and User Requirement Specifications (URS) for new equipment.
Experience selecting and working with equipment vendors
Experience in site support or new equipment design/installation for manufacturing.
Knowledge of robotics and machine safety systems
