We are not focused on aggressive behavior primarily. This role focuses on the major increase in neurodiversity across the board and the desire of our team to learn as much as we can to meet the needs of every student! This role promotes the long-term success for students, while building the capacity of educators and service providers through embedded coaching (including modeling, observing, plan revision and professional development) through the implementation (and revision) of those plans as we learn together. This is a brand new role and we are excited to develop it fully as a team! Key Responsibilities: Behavior Plan Development and Implementation - Conduct thorough, student-centered assessments, including Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) through observations, data collection, and collaboration with families and school team members - Develop individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) rooted in restorative, neurodiverse-affirming, and trauma-informed approaches. - Ensure that BIPs are culturally responsive and aligned with the student’s developmental level and learning profile. - Clearly articulate strategies and accommodations that address both proactive supports and responses to behavior. Coaching and Collaboration - Coach general education teachers and other service providers on plan implementation, including in-the-moment de-escalation strategies, reinforcement systems, and relationship-based supports. - Provide direct coaching and goal-setting with the student, using developmentally appropriate and strengths-based practices. - Collaborate regularly with special education staff, school counselors, social workers, and families to ensure wraparound consistency. Ongoing Monitoring and Revision - Conduct regular classroom and school setting observations to assess plan fidelity and effectiveness. - Collect and analyze behavior data to inform needed revisions to the BIPs. - Facilitate team meetings for reflection, adjustment, and collaborative problem-solving. - Provide follow-up coaching and modeling after any plan revisions. Schoolwide Contribution - Serve as a key contributor to a positive and inclusive school culture by modeling restorative, neurodiverse-affirming, and trauma-informed practices. - Bring a well-developed bank of classroom-ready strategies and best practices that can be integrated into individual behavior plans and adapted for different student needs. - Actively build and refine this strategy bank over time, drawing on insights from implementation experiences, educator feedback, and student outcomes to ensure the most effective approaches are shared and scaled. - Provide targeted professional development (PD) to teams as needed, including sessions that support whole-team alignment and plan fidelity. - Lead ongoing professional development, observation, coaching and feedback cycles for all paraprofessionals, equipping them with the tools and confidence to support student regulation, independence, and inclusion in classrooms and across school settings. - Collaborate with leadership and student support teams to build sustainable systems that reduce exclusionary discipline and increase classroom-based supports.
