Your Role

The Pharmacy Strategy & Operations team is redefining how Blue Shield of California offers high quality, affordable, safe and convenient access to necessary prescription drugs. The Principal Program Manager will report to the Senior Director of Program and Project Management. In this role you will be planning and implementing multiple and extremely complex projects/programs spanning across business areas which require cross functional coordination and collaboration across various pharmacy teams, IT, and external vendors.  Also, as a member of the annual readiness and command center committee, this role will engage and coordinate the pharmacy annual readiness activities.  This role will also support the Pharmacy Agile Product Model leadership team as a business liaison to help support cross team collaboration and coordination. 

Responsibilities

Your Work

In this role, you will:

  • Operate at a strategic business level to ensure projects/programs are in line with Blue Shield of California strategic goals  
  • Consult with all levels including senior management, make recommendations, and influence decision-making
  • Leverage cross-functional internal and external relationships to drive initiatives forward
  • Plan and implement multiple and extremely complex projects/programs spanning across business areas, including collaborating with cross functional pharmacy teams, IT, external Service Providers, and other external vendors to implement large-scale, complex enterprise applications requiring high performance and availability.
  • Determine key business issues, develop effective action plans and implement to successful conclusion
  • Engage and coordinate the pharmacy annual readiness activities as a member of the Rx Annual Readiness and Command Center (ARCC) Committee
  • Support any Pharmacy strategic initiative effort by managing project plan activities, establishing methodologies, and helping coordinate the teams to ensure timely delivery
  • Support the Pharmacy Agile Product Model leadership team as a business liaison for our Pharmacy Product delivery teams
  • Support the Rx other Agile Product team planning and deliverables, as needed
  • Effectively communicate risks / issues and work with accountable leaders identify mitigation and implement mitigation measures

Qualifications

Your Knowledge and Experience

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Requires at least 10 years of prior relevant experience
  • Requires experience working within the Pharmacy health plan industry and understanding of Pharmacy, including knowledge of eligibility, claim processing, prior authorization, etc.
  • Demonstrates strong coordination and project management skills
  • Demonstrates strong ability to influence, collaborate, and build relationships with key stakeholders, vendors, and cross-functional teams
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum delivery methodology

o   Employees living more than 50 miles from their assigned offices are expected to work with their managers on a plan for periodic office visits.

  • On-Site: Work from a business unit-approved office an average of four (4) or more days a week.

Physical Requirements:

Office Environment - roles involving part to full time schedule in Office Environment. Based in our physical offices and work from home office/deskwork - Activity level: Sedentary, frequency most of work day.
