Description

Position Summary:

The Financial Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day fiscal operations of the clinic, with specific emphasis on accounts payable. accounts receivable, payroll processing, and account reconciliations in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles as directed and overseen by the Chief Financial Officer.

  1. SITE OF EMPLOYMENT:

The site of employment may be the main KCHC medical clinic, the KCHC Administrative building or at any other location where KCHC provides services or staff performs work. Staff may work remotely 100% of the time.

  1. Essential Job Functions:

Acts as a member of the KCHC Healthcare Team in the provision of health services to individuals, families, and/or their communities. Works collaboratively with patients and their caregivers—to the extent preferred by each patient—as well as with other members of the KCHC Healthcare Team to accomplish shared goals within and across settings to achieve coordinated, high-quality care.

 

Finance

  1. Maintains confidentiality of all applicable information, including patient medical records, personnel records and financial information.
  2. Prepares accounts payable including the entry and issuance of physical checks and electronic payments for review and approval by the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Executive Officer.
  3. Maintains the accounts payable process and general ledger portions of the accounting system using KCHC accounting software.
  4. Prepares reconciliations for certain accounts monthly. This may include, but is not limited to, the bank reconciliations and balance sheet accounts.
  5. Prepares depreciation schedules.
  6. Completes month end close processes and preparation of financial statements, in collaboration with the Chief Financial Officer or KCHC’s consulting company that may assist with these processes.
  7. Works collaboratively with contracted medical billing company to issue patient refunds and record accounts receivable.
  8. Develops and maintains an excellent working rapport with other departments to encourage the timely flow of financial information.
  9. Works cooperatively with financial consultants, auditors and outside entities to facilitate financial processes and data.
  10. Works cooperatively with financial consultants and tax preparation specialists to complete tax form 990.
  11. In collaboration with the Chief Financial Officer, reviews and monitors financial processes in order to strengthen and maintain excellent internal controls.
  12. Prepares 1099s as needed for vendors at year end.
  13. Works with the Chief Financial Officer to update financial policies as needed.
  14. Reviews and updates accounts receivable allowance on an annual basis.
  15. Performs other related duties, as assigned, that support the overall mission and vision of Kodiak Community Health Center.

Payroll

  1. Responsible for management of organization’s payroll processes and systems including reviewing and transmitting of information as well as maintenance of payroll files as directed by Chief Financial Officer.
  2. Coordinates with HR, managers, and staff to ensure accurate payroll processing, accounting, and reporting as directed by Chief Financial Officer.
  3. Uses KCHC’s electronic payroll system, and contract documents to ensure accurate payroll records as directed by Chief Financial Officer.
  4. Maintains all electronic company payroll files according to records retention rules and for audit purposes.

Qualifications


Essential Job Qualifications:

Education:  High school diploma/GED required. Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred.  Accounting or Business courses preferred. Knowledge of computer-based medical accounting systems strongly preferred.  Coding credentialing is preferred. 

Experience: One (1) to three (3) years business office/accounting/or book keeping experience required. Previous healthcare business office experience preferred. Previous experience with computers is required. Experience with MIP software preferred.
