As a Principal Production Planner / Scheduler, you will be a strategic driver of operational efficiency and delivery performance at our Phoenix facility. This role is responsible for developing and managing production schedules that align with customer demand, material availability, and capacity constraints. You’ll collaborate across supply chain, engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure timely execution of build plans and delivery of high-reliability products. Your expertise will directly impact Mercury’s ability to meet critical defense timelines and maintain operational excellence.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage detailed production schedules based on demand forecasts, material availability, and capacity planning.
- Coordinate with procurement, manufacturing, and engineering teams to ensure alignment of schedules with operational capabilities.
- Analyze production performance metrics and proactively adjust schedules to mitigate risks and optimize throughput.
- Lead cross-functional planning meetings to communicate schedule status, resolve conflicts, and drive accountability.
- Monitor work-in-progress and ensure timely release of work orders to meet customer delivery dates.
- Collaborate with supply chain teams to identify and resolve material shortages or constraints.
- Maintain accurate data in ERP systems and ensure schedule integrity across planning tools.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on lead time reduction, schedule adherence, and delivery performance.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior planners and contribute to planning process enhancements.
- Ensure compliance with AS9100, ITAR, and Mercury’s internal quality and operational standards.
Required Qualifications:
- Typically requires Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related field; or equivalent experience.
- Typically requires a minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience in production planning or scheduling within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP) and advanced planning tools.
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles and capacity planning methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Aerospace, Defense, or high-reliability electronics manufacturing.
- APICS CPIM or CSCP certification.
- Familiarity with AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality systems.
- Prior experience supporting DoD contracts or government-regulated production environments.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with scheduling automation tools.
