Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing scheduled and unscheduled work orders on Crossing Rivers Health equipment and utility systems. The individual in this position will possess general knowledge of all building trades and maintenance procedures related to the operation of the hospital. Ensure efficient operation, inspection, and maintenance of essential utility systems and equipment contributing to the provision of a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.
Essential Job Functions
- Schedules and performs preventive maintenance, corrective and emergency repairs on all utility systems and hospital equipment.
- The ability to operate and maintain all physical equipment including chillers, boilers, air handlers, air compressors, vacuum pumps, control systems, etc.
- Uses computer maintenance management system to document work performed throughout the building.
- Schedules work to ensure to ensure department objectives and responsibilities are met.
- Performs general building repairs, painting/patching, plumbing, lights, minor electrical troubleshooting and repair, welding, soldering, brazing.
- Ensures mechanical areas are clean and a safe working environment.
- Ensures timely communications internally with staff and co-workers as well as with external vendors.
- Responds to emergencies involving essential utilities and equipment immediately during working hours and remains onsite until emergency has been resolved.
- Participates in an on call rotation with Facilities team members, responding to all after hours building emergencies during assigned week.
- Follows all hospital and system policies and procedures.
- Keeps the Facilities Director appropriately informed about all significant issues and problems and seeks assistance when necessary.
- Ensure familiarity with local, state, and federal laws, regulations and standards and well as with governing body.
- Works with, and monitors outside contractors while they are doing work in the hospital to ensure work is completed in accordance with required standards.
- Monitors and reports on all project work associated with the facility.
- Maintains the necessary parts and supplies to ensure equipment is repaired in a timely manner.
- Submits and enters parts and supply requests for approval.
- Ensures familiarization with CRH and department safety plan executing job responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner.
- Work as a team to ensure safe parking areas and roadways by assisting with ice and snow removal as necessary.
- Other job duties and responsibilities as assigned to effectively meet the needs of the patients, the department, and the organization as a whole.

Requirements
Education
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required
- Associates Degree (two year college or technical school) Preferred, Field of Study: Mechanical Technology or Related Field.
Experience
- Two plus years of experience in building maintenance and operation in a hospital, industrial or institutional setting preferred
Computer Skills
- Computer knowledge and skills required.
Certifications & Licenses
- Valid Driver’s License required
Other Requirements
- Knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing systems and HVAC systems.
- Must have the ability to understand and absorb new work methods.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Excellent human relation skills as demonstrated by the ability to interface positively with all customers and employees.
- Must have the ability to work with frequent interruptions, under stress and with minimal supervision.
- Ability to cope with interruptions, varying personalities, rush projects and some irregular hours.
