Summary

In the Seamstress I position, you are responsible for operating sewing and upholstery machinery safely and efficiently. This includes working with industrial sewing machines, overlock machines, and executing specialized techniques such as French seams.

Additionally, you will be responsible for reading and following design specifications, patterns, and technical instructions while working in a fast-paced production environment.

Description

• Operate sewing and upholstery machinery safely and efficiently
• Proficient in using industrial sewing machines, overlock machines, and executing techniques such as French seams
• Strong hand-eye coordination with experience working with various materials, including fabric, vinyl, and leather
• Ability to measure, cut, and sew with precision while ensuring high-quality craftsmanship
• Skilled in matching patterns, aligning seams, and maintaining consistency in stitching
• Able to read and follow design specifications, patterns, and technical instructions
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace while adhering to safety guidelines
• Capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced production environment while meeting deadlines
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality control and minimizing errors
• Perform additional duties as requested

Key Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of industry experience in general warehouse environment, preferably in foam 
• Have an intermediate understanding of the subject matter
• Performs work under direct supervision
• Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff
• Excellent English verbal and written communication skills preferred
• Create an environment of high standards and quality work
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to act with integrity, empathy, and professionalism
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with culturally diverse staff and populations

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in a warehouse environment with varying noise levels
• Ability to stand, walk, and move up to the duration of the entire shift
• Must be able to carry/lift a minimum of 15 Ibs or up to 50 Ibs
• Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities
• Must safely operate a variety of sewing and upholstery tools and machinery, such as industrial sewing machines, hand cutters, and spray glue guns.
