About the Department
OR
Associate's degree from an accredited college in legal studies or related field and two (2) years of experience in a similar position as listed in the work functions.
OR
A combination of education and experience equivalent to four (4) years of experience in a similar position as listed in the work functions.
Regular and reliable attendance is a necessary component of job/position. Individuals required to use County vehicles and equipment must have a valid driver's license and be free of any major traffic violations for the last three (3) years.
Position Duties
Under supervision, independently processes data requests submitted by the County Attorney’s Office, data subjects, law firms, social services agencies and other state and federal agencies. Supports a diverse, respectful, and inclusive workplace.
Minimum Qualifications
- Redacts file information relative to State and Federal Data Practices and HIPPA laws, rules, and regulations.
- Reviews social services and probation records.
- Advises staff on data practices and data breach questions.
- Submits redacted or unredacted social services and probation records to data requestors as prescribed by Minnesota Statute and fulfills information requests.
- Coordinates work with other staff and assists with administrative support tasks and projects as needed.
- Maintains detailed records of work performed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Other Qualifications
- Skills in redacting.
- Knowledge of criminal and civil law and procedure, understanding of court process, sentencing procedures and guidelines.
- Knowledge of state and federal data practices and HIPAA laws, rules, and regulations.
- Knowledge of law enforcement and social services investigative procedures.
- Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and composition.
- Knowledge of the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act.
- Skill in the use of computers and technology.
- Ability to make decisions and work under deadlines in accordance with the functions of the office.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and agencies.
- Ability to relate to the public in a productive manner.
- Ability to function independently in preparation of legal matters.
- Ability to read and redact a large number of case files.
- Ability to work with sensitive data.
