- Manages department operations in coordination with Plant Manager
- Operates with a sense of “ownership” and professionalism.
- Coordinates and/or performs required repairs and maintenance as directed.
- Recommends to Plant Manager any needed improvement in equipment functions.
- Ensures all work is performed in compliance with all regulatory and company requirements
- Ensures all work areas are clean, safe, and following company GMP’s.
- Ensures, through training and follow up, that engineering staff work in a safe and efficient manner in compliance with federal and state requirements.
- Ensures that all work assignments are completed as designated by supervisor.
- Preforms work in a safe and efficient manner in compliance with federal and state requirements.
- Maintains accurate and timely records of work performed on work orders, maintenance calls, preventative maintenance reports, and employee issues.
- Prepares specific and accurate parts request forms.
- Responds to maintenance and line stoppage calls.
- Provides emergency repairs quickly and efficiently.
- Performs duties in all areas within maintenance department.
- Provides technical assistance and information to Plant Manager as needed.
- Display initiative in recognizing work to be accomplished and makes recommendations to Plant Manager.

- Engineering Staff
- Production Staff
- Sanitation Staff
- SHIFT & HOURS: Full-time position schedule will be based on production needs; Monday through Friday; and any shift: Day, Swing and/or Graveyard. Additional hours or days may be required based on maintenance needs. Must be able to work any days or hours needed to meet bakery production needs.
- High school graduate or GED required.
- LME license strongly preferred and will receive preference in consideration.
- Previous experience in similar maintenance of production line equipment and facilities at a large commercial or artisan bakery is preferred.
- Work experience in other similar equipment maintenance of industrial, manufacturing or production-line equipment may substitute.
- Ability to work in a high temperature environment supporting fast paced machinery.
- Ability to quickly learn new job tasks and flexibility to work in different jobs as needed
- Must join union within 30 days of hire.
- Must be able to stand and walk for 8 or more hours and perform repetitive bending, reaching, and grasping of tools and equipment.
- Ability to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, grasp, and lift up to 50 pounds over a 7 – 10 hour shift.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. regularly and up to 100 lbs. rarely.
- Ability to work in a high temperature environment.
- Ability to work at heights up to 30 feet using ladders or man-lifts.
- Ability to climb ladders and/or stairs to access work areas.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English to coordinate work with co-workers, and/or supervisors, read repair/maintenance information, and document job tasks completed.
- Ability to write clear messages or routine job or maintenance documentation or report data.
- Will be exposed to cleaning solutions and fumes. Respirators and all PPE must be used when required by job tasks.
- Attention to detail to self-inspect work tasks to ensure compliance with standards, procedures, counts, or other job criteria.
- Ability to remember and follow established work procedures and all safe food handling practices consistently.
- Ability to work in a team environment in proximity to others and maintain professional interactions at all times, even in stressful situations.
- Must have a positive safe work ethic and be reliable.
