About This Role

The Senior Manager, Commodity Management & Sourcing professional will closely partner with the Engineering and PMO team as part of our New Product Development (NPD) process in support of organization's standards for price, quality, timing, and reliability of supply. This role will have wide cross-functional input and will coordinate with the various sites and commodities managers to ensure sourcing input and guidance is incorporated into all NPD projects.

  • Owns and develops sourcing strategy for New Product Development projects in partnership with the various sites and commodities sourcing professional.
  • Develop and manage supply chain strategies that address capacity issues, production location decisions, etc. in order to ensure on time and on cost launch of new products.
  • Coordinate with the global sourcing team to understand commodities strategies, preferred suppliers and opportunities to consolidate, exit or invest into supplier relationships.
  • Partners with internal clients and stakeholders to identify sourcing needs and develop sourcing strategies.
  • Identify long term roadmap for new product VAVE activities with multiyear savings plans.
  • Directs analysis of suppliers' operations to determine factors that affect prices and lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing:   

  • Develop and implement global sourcing strategies to support business objectives, ensuring cost optimization / productivity, quality, and risk mitigation. 
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers to ensure alignment with the company’s strategic goals and compliance requirements. 
  • Incorporate existing sourcing strategies and suppliers into NPD projects.  Coordinate with appropriate sourcing team members.

      Supplier Relationship Management: 

  • Integrate supply base into the NPD process to ensure capabilities, cost opportunities and quality assurance for new product launches.
  • Lead supplier negotiations, including contracts, pricing, and performance metrics. 
  • Escalate critical items and support discussion with critical vendors 

      Cost Savings and Value Creation: 

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through strategic sourcing initiatives, process improvements, and supplier partnerships. 
  • Drive initiatives to improve supply chain sustainability and resilience. 

      Cross-Functional Collaboration: 

  • Partner with key internal stakeholders, including product development, marketing, finance, and operations, to align sourcing strategies with business goals. 
  • Lead cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation of sourcing initiatives. 

      Data Analysis and Reporting: 

  • Utilize data analytics to monitor spend, supplier performance, and market conditions. 
  • Prepare and present regular reports to senior leadership on sourcing performance and cost savings. 
  • Publish dashboard on regular cadence to support operation discussion 

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 10+ years of strategic sourcing experience, preferably in consumer retail or electronics.
  • 10+ years’ managing global supplier relationships and negotiating complex contracts.
  • OR
  • Master’s Degree.
  • 7+ years of strategic sourcing experience, preferably in consumer retail sourced or electronics.
  • 7+ years’ managing global supplier relationships and negotiating complex contracts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of signaling technologies, electronics, or safety systems is a strong plus.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience with both electronics and metals.
  • Expert to mastery knowledge obtained through advanced education, combined with experience
  • Effective strategic thinking skills to manage difficult and complex problems
  • Knowledge of related disciplines within work area and able to identify links and potential impact on projects, programs and systems
  • Strong communication skills that can flex to fit any platform, media, character count or audience.
  • Organizational skills including strategic planning, time management, attention to detail
  • Analytical skills that help evaluate data to help us stay ahead
  • People skills that drive engagement and advocacy

Compensation and Benefits: 

The base salary range for this role is $137,700.00 – $162,000.00. Individuals may also be eligible for an annual performance bonus based on both individual and company’s performance. The final compensation for this position will be set based on the individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience as it relates to the job requirements.
