Inside the Role
Daimler Truck North America’s Vehicle Analysis and Simulation Department works closely with the Design Engineering teams and Product Validation teams throughout new product development. We use state-of-the-art CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) tools to assess and develop components and systems that fit our vehicle performance targets. We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Computational Simulation Engineer to work on component level analysis and simulation topics by using AI/ML driven software tools to strengthen our Simulation Processes and Methods team. You will have responsibilities to support the whole engineering organization in early stages of product development with material selection, geometry and design optimization proposals. In addition you provide deliver material in context based analysis data to the entire vehicle analysis team as well as to physical component testing. With your innovative mindset you push the boundaries for functional integration and lightweight design approach. By utilizing, expand and further improve our component level analysis and simulation techniques, DTNA will save engineering development time and money. The amount of design iterations and prototype parts as well as prototype tools will be reduced. The quality of plastic and metal components will be improved.Posting Information

Position offers a starting salary range of $95,000.00 - $121,000.00 USD
Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience

What You Drive at DTNA
· Leading benchmark studies for current component level analysis and simulation tools, to ensure we are maintaining, expanding and continuously improve our internal simulation expertise.
· Set up and coordinate simulation activities, models builds and analysis runs
· Use Siemens NX and other design tools to check 3D part design and package regarding feasibility
· Support design engineers in advanced Desktop FEA analysis .
· Develop methodologies for material in context data usage out of the process simulation results to increase the accuracy of functional analysis models (mapping).
· Support the design engineers and functional analysis group in material decision process
· Present work in various forums ranging from team design reviews to executive management summaries
· Develop, release, and maintain accurate component level analysis and simulation report documentation
· Improve competitive market position by keeping abreast of state-of-the-art developments in the trucking industry and applying the new knowledge to designs. Strive to reduce the complexity of our products.
· Prioritize assignments consistent with business goals and successfully implement projects on time and within budget. Proactively inform management of project issues, delays and risks
· Generate and implement ideas to continuously improve work environment, systems, tools, processes as well as product cost and quality
· Develop cost reduction initiatives: Ideation, concepts, material and process innovations
· Interface and coordinate with Suppliers, Purchasing, Materials, Manufacturing, Quality, Warranty, Marketing, and other Engineering personnel in the product development and testing phases.
Knowledge You Should Bring
· Master degree or Bachelor's degree with 4 years of related experience OR 6 years of experience in lieu of degree.
· Experience in part design especially design parametrization is required
· Deep dive knowledge about AI/ML analysis tools specifically Siemens HEEDS is required.
· Experience in using & evaluating functional simulation tools like Nastran is required.
· Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
· Strong teamwork and continuous learning skills is required.
Exceptional Candidates Might Have
· An advanced background in plastics/composite materials is preferred.
· Deep dive understanding of time and frequency domain subsystem level analysis
· Knowledge about failure criteria definition of plastic parts by using a material property mapping methodology. (Advanced fatigue analysis)
· Knowledge about combining plastic with endless fiber reinforced sheets (Organo Sheet Technology) to produce lightweight hybrid parts is preferred
· Knowledge about sheet metal formability is preferred
· Knowledge about Injection molding simulation is preferred
· Design experience in the truck industry including prototype, production and concept vehicles is preferred.
