The Contracts Manager provides leadership and oversight of post-award financial operations for incoming contracts and subcontracts. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with institutional policies, federal regulations (e.g., Uniform Guidance), sponsor requirements, and audit standards. The manager supervises a team of grant specialists, coordinates financial management and reporting, and serves as a critical liaison between SPA, department research administrators, faculty, and sponsors.Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Team Management and Supervision
- Supervise, train, and develop a team of staff, including workload balancing and performance evaluations.
- Promote staff development through ongoing training, mentoring, and feedback.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture.
Post-Award Financial Management
- Oversee the financial management of awards, including budgeting, cost allowability, timely invoicing, financial reporting, cash management, and award closeout.
- Review and approve journal entries, budget adjustments, and other financial transactions related to sponsored awards.
- Monitor spending activity to ensure compliance with sponsor terms and institutional policy.
Compliance and Risk Management
- Interpret and apply federal regulations (Uniform Guidance 2 CFR 200), sponsor guidelines, and university policies related to sponsored funding.
Process Improvement and Strategic Initiatives
- Identify opportunities for process efficiency and consistency within the post-award function.
- Lead or participate in projects related to system implementations, policy updates, or new sponsor requirements.
- Collaborate with pre-award, contracts, IT, and academic departments to improve post-award workflows and customer service.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as a subject matter expert and resource to internal stakeholders, including faculty and department administrators.
- Facilitate training and outreach activities on post-award topics and best practices.
- Represent SPA on cross-functional working groups and research administration committees.

$75,200.00 - $128,800.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.Questions
