The School of Public and Allied Health at Prairie View A&M University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant/ Associate Professor in the Division of Health. The successful candidate will join a growing and dynamic team dedicated to preparing students for careers in the health and health sciences fields. The role involves leadership and management of field education, student advising, and participation in department, college, university, and professional service.
The salary is determined in accordance with the University’s compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidates’ education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position.
Responsibilities:
Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Health and related disciplines.
Develop new courses and instructional materials that align with program needs.
Utilize innovative teaching strategies, including technology-enhanced and online learning.
Supervise student projects, internships, and independent studies.
Establish and maintain an active research agenda leading to peer-reviewed publications.
Pursue internal and external funding opportunities to support scholarly activities.
Engage in collaborative research within the School of Public and Allied Health and across disciplines.
Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in academic planning, research, and professional development.
Support students in pursuing experiential learning, including research, community engagement, and study abroad opportunities.
Participate in program assessment, accreditation activities, and curriculum development.
Serve on division, school, and university committees.
Engage in professional service through memberships, conference presentations, and editorial/reviewer roles.
Contribute to community outreach and partnerships that promote health and allied health initiatives.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Doctoral degree (Ph.D., Ed.D., or equivalent) in Health, Health Education, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
2 years of related experience.
Evidence of effective teaching experience at the college/university level.
Demonstrated scholarly potential, including peer-reviewed publications or a clear research agenda.
Experience in student mentoring, advising, or supervision.
Preferred qualifications:
3-5 years of field practice experience preferred.
