Essential Responsibilities:

- Provide direct supportive services to individuals with mental health symptoms
- Assist clients in generating proactive solutions to barriers regarding their recovery
- Complete documentation in a timely and accurate manner
- Complete trainings and attend meetings as directed
- Participate in care coordination to collaborate with community partners, caregivers, family members, physicians and other treatment providers regularly
- Work with care team and consumer to develop a crisis prevention plan and treatment goals to provide person-centered treatment
- Act in accordance with the established mission, vision, and values.
- Abide by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Maintain effective communication and professional working relationships with patients/clients and their representatives, team members, contractors, physicians, peers, outside agencies, and the public.

Minimum Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be 18 years of age and at least three years older than the youth.
- This unique position requires that a Peer Support Specialist Self-identify as a present or former primary consumer of mental health services
- Minimum of one year in stable recovery
Required License/Certifications/Registrations
- State training as identified
- Valid driver’s license, insurance and a dependable vehicle
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred Education and Experience
Two years’ experience working with adults in a health-related field
Preferred License/Certifications/Registrations
BHS Certification for Peer Support Specialists in Kansas (KDADS)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong organizational skills
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Office programs
- Ability to develop and mentor others.
- Oral communication, interpersonal skills, flexibility, problem-solving skills
Physical Requirements:

Light Work: Occasionally exerting up to 25 lbs - frequently exerting up to 10 lbs. 11-25% of the day may be standing or walking.
