Summary:
This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the ammonia refrigeration system, HCFC systems, hot water, air compressors, waste treatment operations, and their safe and efficient operations. Must be able to understand and work within the rules and standards of OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) and EPA Risk Management Program (RMP). Must be able to work within a total team environment and effectively deal with team members, management team members, operations personnel, and contractors. Must have foundational knowledge in troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and other systems under the areas of assigned responsibilities. Willingness to participate in training and skill development in all areas of responsibility and self-motivation are essential.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain ammonia refrigeration systems and HCFC systems.
- Manage hot water systems, air compressors, and waste treatment operations.
- Ensure safe and efficient operations of all assigned systems.
- Comply with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) and EPA Risk Management Program (RMP) standards.
- Work effectively within a team environment.
- Communicate and collaborate with team members, management, operations personnel, and contractors.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration systems.
- Participate in training and skill development relevant to assigned responsibilities.
- Read and understand Equipment and System P&ID's.
- Pass a HAZ-Mat physical and training to be certified as an Emergency Responder Technician Level.
- Participate in the Emergency Response Team.
- Use electrical testing equipment and basic hand and power tools.
- Apply knowledge of industrial safety procedures.
- Utilize Windows-based software, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Learn and apply Tyson SAP-PM Plant Maintenance system.
- Communicate effectively with all team members.
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Travel for training as required (approximately one to two weeks per year).
REQUIREMENTS:
Experience:
- At least 1 year of industrial refrigeration experience or trade school equivalent.
- Must be able to read and understand Equipment and System P&ID's.
- Must be able to pass a HAZ-Mat physical and training to be certified as an Emergency Responder Technician Level and participate on the Emergency Response Team.
- Must participate in Plant HazMat team. Must pass Pulmonary Function Test (PFT).
- Working knowledge of electrical testing equipment and basic hand and power tools.
Computer Skills:
- Working knowledge of Windows-based software, such as Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Ability to learn and apply Tyson SAP-PM Plant Maintenance system.
Communication Skills:
- Must be able to communicate with all team members.
- Possess a high level of written and verbal communication skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Interact professionally with all levels of the organization.
Travel:
- Approximately one to two weeks of travel per year is possible for training.
Special Skills:
- 3+ years of Industrial Ammonia Refrigeration and equipment room experience in a food plant preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of Industrial Safety procedures is preferred.
- RETA and IIAR Ammonia Refrigeration training is preferred.
- RETA I Certification and Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification preferred.
- Knowledge of Industrial Maintenance to include hydraulics, pneumatics, PLC's, Motor Controls, and shop equipment operations desired.
- Experience in the Air Conditioning/Refrigeration industry is a plus.
- Industrial maintenance experience is a plus.
- Experience with Air Conditioning / Refrigeration systems operation and maintenance is a plus.
- Formal training from an Air-conditioning / Refrigeration Technical School is a plus.
Physical Requirements: The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Lift 70 lbs. on a daily basis.
- Work on your feet for 12 hours.
- Climb ladders and work in tight spaces.
- Work at heights up to 50 feet above the floor surface.
- Work in a cold, damp to hot environment.
- Stand, walk, bend, stretch, climb, push, pull, and reach as required.
