Job Summary:

This role contributes to Basic American Foods success by effectively leading the warehousing and logistics focus of supply chain for the Moses Lake facility. The role will be responsible for managing storage, internal transportation, inventory accuracy, warehouse safety, and sanitation. Works collaboratively with key business partners to ensure efficient movement of materials to support plant operations, as well as finished goods shipments. Support Basic American Foods ability to deliver its on time delivery performance and fill rate goals. Lead the warehouse functional areas to meet objectives, goals, strategies, and measures in a way that is consistent with Basic American Foods core values and fosters engagement.

Essential Job Duties/Key Accountabilities

  1. Manage functions related to warehouse operations including, but not limited to, Moses Lake customer order fulfillment, shipping & receiving of BAF products and supplies that support customer requirements, company warehousing, and plant production.
  2. Execute Basic American Foods strategies and achieving relevant measures and goals through clear and effective leadership.
  3. Develops strategies and manage the items stored in the facility; including, but not limited to, inventory accuracy, bay accuracy, cycle counting, and proper storage of finished goods, WIP, ingredients, and packaging materials.
  4. Oversee order shipping and closure function so that orders are processed accurately and fulfilled within the customers guidelines.
  5. Lead the team to cohesively support strategic customer care service objectives, enhance team skills and competencies, and establishes team performance objectives.
  6. Assist Logistics team to develop team goals and ensure effective management within budgetary guidelines. Provides management with key KPI tracking tools and reports as designated.
  7. Investigates cause analysis issues for problem reconciliation and leads corrective action for issues related to transportation and storage causing plant downtime.
  8. Support BAF operations in ensuring requirements regarding quality, food safety, and sanitation meet, or exceed, SQF qualifications; as well as exceeding all customer requirements.

Proactively manage safety by ensuring compliance with all Federal and State regulations and internal Company policies. Regularly complete behavior-based safety observations. Ensure unsafe conditions are corrected in a timely manner.

All employees are responsible for immediately reporting any food safety, food quality or plant security issues to management for appropriate action.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises employees in the warehouse area which includes, but not limited to, inventory coordinators, warehouse techs, and shipping clerks. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education & Experience

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain, transportation or related field and 3 years' experience in transportation and warehouse operations, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of regulations relating to transportation, coupled with experience with a variety of logistics sourcing strategies.
  • Experience of leading and motivating a high-performance Team
  • Experience in both distribution and planning

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Contract Management systems; Database software; Human Resource systems; Internet software; Inventory software; Order processing systems; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
