Salary Range: $52,362 - $83,731 ANNUALLY
Starting Pay Range: $52,362 - $68,046.50 ANNUALLY
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours/week (must be available for evenings and weekends as needed)

JOB SUMMARY
The Office of the City Council President is seeking a highly motivated professional to serve as the Staff Assistant and Driver. This role provides direct support to the Council President by managing logistical, technical, and administrative needs, ensuring seamless execution of day-to-day responsibilities.
The Staff Assistant and Driver will act as a trusted aide—facilitating transportation, supporting communications, engaging with community members, and helping the Council President execute their schedule. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, exercises excellent judgment, and is eager to contribute to public service and administrative support at the highest levels of city leadership.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Staff Assistant and Driver will:
- Provide Direct Support: Serve as the primary driver for the Council President, ensuring safe and timely transportation to meetings and events.
- Assist with Scheduling & Follow-up: Coordinate with the Scheduler to track action items from meetings and ensure timely follow-up.
- Executive Support: Take charge of administrative tasks to help the Council President execute on their schedule.
- External Communications: Coordinate with external parties for seamless and punctual arrivals and exits for the Council President at external engagements.
- Special Projects: Lead or support specific initiatives aligned with office priorities, from ideation to implementation.
- Maintain availability for extended and occasionally unpredictable hours in order to staff the Council President at events.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school diploma or GED required.
Experience: At least 2–3 years in administrative support, or a related field preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Strong judgment and discretion; ability to handle sensitive conversations and information with confidentiality.
- Valid drivers license and ability to operate a standard vehicle.
- High level of organization and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to stand for multiple hours
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Sense of urgency and responsiveness in addressing issues.
- Additional duties may include: Collecting/distributing business cards, advance work, working through logistics(the Council President’s talking points, event run of show, agenda, other event related information), prepare materials, briefing the Council President, aware and knowledgeable about local policy and politics in the city, attend events on behalf of the Council President, occasional event follow up, engaging with event guests. Support Council President related activities inside of City Hall including but not limited to being sergeant of arms, technology management, preparing hearing materials
- Flexibility to manage a wide variety of tasks and projects.

BACKGROUND CHECK
Eligible candidates under final consideration will be required to authorize a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint screening prior to appointment.
PROBATION
All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a 6-month mandatory probation.
FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE
This position is required to complete a Financial Disclosure pursuant to Sections 7-7, 7-8, and 7-9 of the City Ethics Law.
