We’re looking for a Revenue Tax Officer to join our Customer Service Division! 

An ideal candidate should possess the following competencies:

  • Thinking Critically: The ability to generate ideas, manipulate ideas, and make unconventional connections to develop original approaches.
  • Using Data: The ability to use relevant and valid data to inform a recommendation for action.

Position Duties

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Three years of experience in accounting, financial auditing, tax administration, tax policy or law, management analysis, or administrative services in a financial setting; OR

Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR

A bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Other Qualifications

Job Duties: 

In this role, you will:

  • Receive and respond to incoming telephones calls and correspondence pertaining to tax due notices issued by the Department for business and individual income taxes. 

  • Assist walk-in taxpayers with problems/questions regarding tax due notices for business and individual income taxes. 

  • Enforce state revenue laws and assist taxpayers in complying with requirements of such laws.

  • Obtain and analyzes financial statements and documentation from taxpayers, accountants, CPAs, and attorneys to determine the taxpayers' ability to pay.

  • Assists agencies with file uploads and data analysis.


Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type:   Probational, Promotional, Job Appointment, Detail to Special Duty or WAE

Career Progression:  This position may be filled as a Revenue Tax Officer 1 or 2.

Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.   


This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) at each level:

The Revenue Tax Officer 1 (AS-612) has a starting rate of: $17.79/hourly; $1423.20 biweekly.

The Revenue Tax Officer 2 (AS-613) has a starting rate of: $19.04/hourly; $1523.20 biweekly.


This posting may be used to fill vacancies in other divisions available within the Louisiana Department of Revenue within 90 days of the closing date.
