POSITION SUMMARY:

The Vice President of Safety provides executive leadership for all safety and occupational health programs at the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA), inclusive of the Orlando International and Orlando Executive airports. This role is responsible for establishing and directing a comprehensive safety strategy that ensures compliance with federal, state, and local requirements, reduces workplace and operational risks, and fosters a culture of safety across GOAA’s facilities and operations. Ensures alignment with OSHA and other industrial safety standards while supporting aviation-specific safety management systems (SMS), emergency preparedness, and business continuity. This position engages employees, tenants, contractors, and stakeholders in advancing proactive safety practices that protect employees, passengers, and the public

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Industrial Safety, Aviation Safety, or related field. Ten (10) years of progressive experience in occupational/industrial safety, regulatory compliance, or aviation safety, with at least five (5) years in executive or senior leadership. Proven expertise in OSHA standards, industrial hygiene, hazard analysis, and aviation-related safety compliance.
  • Professional certifications such as CSP, SMS, ASP, COSM, or COSS.
  • FEMA/NIMS certifications (100, 200, 300, 700, 800).
  • Experience in construction safety management and oversight of capital projects in complex environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of occupational, industrial, and aviation safety practices.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and change management skills.
  • Ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Analytical skills to interpret safety performance data and implement effective interventions.
  • Capacity to make decisions and lead teams in emergency and high-pressure situations
  • Valid Florida driver’s license
