The Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (VMBS), Texas A&M University (TAMU) encourages applications for a 0.2 FTE, part-time 11-month temporary faculty position at the rank of Non-Tenure Senior Professor.

Expected duties of the Senior Professor primarily include mentorship and teaching of clinical trainees of the Large Animal Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital in orthopedic surgery and research. A secondary and minor role is to provide patient care to large animals presenting to the Large Animal Teaching Hospital for orthopedic injuries as a mentor and experienced surgeon for complicated cases requiring the expertise of an expert in the field in an advisory role to existing faculty surgeons. There is no primary patient care or hospital responsibilities expected in this Senior Professor role.

Primary overall effort (90%) in this 0.2 FTE position will be dedicated to mentorship and surgical instruction of clinical interns and residents with the remaining effort (10%) dedicated to surgical support of complicated orthopedic cases presenting to the Large Animal Veterinary Teaching Hospital.  Applicants must be committed to a team-centered atmosphere and possess excellent communication skills with animal caregivers, faculty colleagues, veterinary students, house officers, technicians, and staff. In addition, faculty members are expected to commit to holding themselves and colleagues accountable to the VMBS code of professional conduct


Required Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have a DVM degree and
  • Diplomate status with the American College of Veterinary Surgeons
  • At least 10 years of clinical teaching or mentoring experience as a faculty member
  • Applicants are required to be licensed to practice veterinary medicine in Texas.
