We are currently seeking a Business Development Chemist to join our Research & Development team at our Evansville, IN research facility. The main purpose of this position is to support the development and lifecycle management of key projects within our R&D group. This role spans from early-stage formulation work through to product launch and ongoing commercial support. The ideal candidate will collaborate across multiple departments and serve as a key technical contact for both internal stakeholders and external customers. 

Responsibilities:

Formulation & Development 

• Conduct formulation work in the R&D lab to support product development.
• Design, execute, and manage independent research studies.
• Assist team members and project leaders on high-priority initiatives.

Customer & Trial Support

• Participate in customer trials and provide on-site troubleshooting as needed.
• Prepare comprehensive trip and trial reports summarizing outcomes and follow-ups.

Technical Presentations & Marketing

• Develop and deliver presentations for customers, OEMs, trade shows, and internal teams.
• Communicate technical findings, promote new technologies, and represent Red Spot at various events.

Customer & Product Support

• Serve as the primary point of contact for specific customers and internal teams.
• Collaborate with Sales, Tech Service, and R&D to resolve issues quickly and thoroughly.
• Support product launches and manage customer expectations through all phases of the product lifecycle.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement based on customer and sales team feedback.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry 
• Experience in coating formulation is favorable. UV curable coating formulation is highly favorable. 
• Ability to pass Ishihara Test for Color Deficiency.
• Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently and/or bilingual. 
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 30-50% of the time; both domestic and international.

• Willingness to travel for customer trials and presentations.

• Ability to interpret, train classes, enforces, and adheres to all company policies, including Quality/EHS procedures and policies, and all applicable government regulations.
