The Accounting Clerk is responsible for assisting the dealership Controller and a key member of the Accounting Office performing a variety of general accounting and clerical tasks to support the dealership’s daily operations. This position ensures accuracy and efficiency in financial operations, assists and supports the accounting team with audits and reporting. This position may work with highly confidential and sensitive information.
Qualifications
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Billing Clerk at month end or as needed in reviewing documents to ensure all required paperwork is complete, accurate, and compliant before posting.
- Post Dealer Trades and Wholesales.
- Issue vehicle payoffs daily as deals are funded, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Reconciling and maintaining accounting schedules and compile reports as needed.
- Provide support to the office staff and assist other team members as needed.
- Support the Controller at month end to ensure a smooth closeout.
- Assist with internal and external audits, including floorplan, manufacturer, and compliance reviews, by gathering required documents and supporting the accounting team.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Automotive Accounting experience preferred.
- Experience with Reynolds and Reynolds.
- Attention to detail and outstanding understanding of GAAP and SEC reporting standards.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to work professionally with and effectively interact with all levels of internal and external contacts.
- Team-oriented and works well in a collaborative environment while still being self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
Physical requirements/Working conditions
Primarily working in an office environment using a pc and phone for prolonged periods with ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, stoop, reach, pull and lift objects up to 10lbs intermittently. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform repetitive hand activities with close reach, such as keyboard, mouse, handwriting and file management (continuously).
