SUMMARY:  

The Manager, Marketing and Communications, under the direction of the

      their supervisor, is responsible for the implementation of marketing and communications tactics that sustain and strengthen marketing strategies for the brand, service lines, and programs of Luskin Orthopaedic Institute for Children (LuskinOIC) and Luskin Orthopaedic Institute for Children Foundation. This role provides comprehensive support and assistance with day-to-day department activities, exercising independent judgment and creativity. In addition, this role will provide project support to the Senior Director, Marketing, Communications & Strategy and others, as requested. Essential to the job are excellent written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, multiple project management, liaising with various vendors and stakeholders, high-level proficiency in Excel, PPT, PDF, social media platforms.   

 

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Responsible for the implementation of marketing and communications strategies in          the following areas:

 

Marketing Operations

 

  • Employ project management techniques to achieve project completion on  schedule and on budget.
  • Track and report marketing and communications expenditures monthly.
  • Serve as marketing communications liaison to Foundation team for agreed- upon project support.
  • Participates in the development of the organization's service-line strategic  marketing plans.
  • Coordinates monthly or quarterly meetings with assigned service-lines  leads to review work in progress.

 

Digital Marketing/Web

 

  • Prepare, coordinate, and implement digital content for LuskinOIC's social media platforms - including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, lnstagram, Linkedln.
  • Update and manage LuskinOIC's website content as needed.
  • Oversee departmental photography and videography needs, including taking and editing photos, filming footage, scheduling/coordinating photo and video shoots through external agencies.
  • Support fundraising and service-line marketing goals by defining consumer and donor personas, and creating effective digital communication strategies for them.
  • Assist with the monitoring and tracking of digital marketing initiatives, using Google analytics and other digital analytic tools.

 

 

Media Relations/Public Relations

 

  • Develop and enhance relationships with appropriate media        representatives.
  • Write and disseminate news releases, media advisories, photo releases, calendar announcements and story pitches to appropriate news media outlets, utilizing external support as needed.

 

Creative & Production

 

  • Write, edit and/or proofread copy for a variety purposes (e.g., publications, newsletters, brochures, advertisements, internal announcements, etc.)
  • Design advertising and collateral material while maintaining consistency   with brand guidelines
  • Collaborate with external design and/or production firms to produce content.

 

Events',

  • Provide promotional and logistical support for special events and community outreach projects (health fairs and other consumer-targeted  community outreach activities)
  • Attend to the details of special event implementation and follow-up, collaborating with internal personnel and external resources as needed. Some events will happen on weekends and outside of regular work hours. High schedule flexibility is needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned, including special project support.

 

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS AND SUCCESS INDICATORS: 

  • Display strong interpersonaloral and written communication skills in coordination of LuskinOIC communications and marketing.
  • Exhibit strong organizational and problem solving skills with high attention to detail and disciplined follow-through to complete assigned tasks and duties with specified deadlines.
  • Demonstrate an ability to handle multiple assignments while meeting  deadlines, monitor and meet goals set with supervisor.
  • Resourceful, self-reliant and demonstrating a collaborative disposition backed with consistent and reliable judgement. 
  • Independently discern work priorities.
  • Skilled and working with a wide variety of individuals at varying levels and departments of the organization to gain consensus and get tasks completed.
  • Ability to proofread printed copy in English (Spanish also preferred but not required).
  • Ability to work independently at times.
  • Skilled in remaining focused on timely completion of professional level  work while being continually interrupted by phone and in person.
  • Skilled in writing and verbally explaining complex medical topics to audiences with varying levels of medical knowledge ranging from none to  MD/PhD.
  • Skilled in working on extremely short deadlines (hours or minutes) when          necessary to complete tasks. 
  • Must be willing to work evenings/weekends as needed and travel to  multiple LuskinOIC site locations in the performance of job functions.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Minimum 6 of related experience in healthcare marketing and communications and public relations preferred.
  • History of advancing a not-for-profit institution in areas relating to marketing, communications, patient referrals, digital, outreach, awareness, branding.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Significant experience with graphic design (Adobe Creative Suite preferred).
  • Ability to conceptualize and be innovative with a new mix of programs and services to meet both “customer” (donor) and organizational needs.
  • Written and verbal fluency in English required and in Spanish preferred.

 

Complexity: 

  • Ability to perform highly detailed work with sustained attention while providing/obtaining information on numerous inquiries is paramount to success in this position. High-level ability to prioritize and reprioritize daily and assigned workflow. Ability to maintain confidentiality, professional discretion and ethical behavior.
