Performs specific duties related to patient meal services including tray line, diet office, and interaction with patients for meal selection, complying with regulatory requirements and standards of practice developed by the department.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Required: High School diploma

Preferred: College nutrition classes or dietetic assistant degree, associate's or bachelor's


Experience
Required: Two years experience as a host or one year experience as a diet clerk, or equivalent.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Must complete new hire competency within 90 days of hire/transfer.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential

Receives diet orders from the electronic medical record and maintains current diet order in the automated diet office system (Computrition). Updates food allergy and food preference information in the automated diet office system.

Updates Allergy/Clerk Check log. Checks trays on tray line for accuracy, of High Risk and Allergy trays.

Actively works in support of regulatory compliance assuring that KH maintains full accreditation and compliance with State and Federal regulations. Understands specific responsibilities for regulatory compliance in the home department and ensures daily requirements for compliance are met.

Answers phones for Room Service orders & assists with meal selections based on diet prescription per physician order.

Prints out Computrition and Serener reports on a daily basis in the diet office. Cross references Serner with Computrition for errors.

Inputs floor stock sheet data and other data entry for department records.

Updates communication board daily.

Prepares and corrects tray tickets for tray line.

Consults with patients, nurses, dietitians, and dietary personnel as needed concerning patient diets.

Compiles dietetic information for use by kitchen personnel in food preparation

Maintains departmental records, reports, and files as required.


Additional

Delivers meals and Floor stock to patient units.

Assists with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.

Participates in educational programs and inservice meetings.

Attends meetings as required.

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Pay Range

$21.20 -$31.80
