The ABA Clinical Director is responsible for overseeing and managing the therapeutic needs of the clients being served. They are responsible for overseeing caseloads, therapist and consultant performance, and monitoring program progress. 

The ABA Clinical Director analyzes data collected by RBTs and BCBAs to determine if the interventions they created are effective in creating the desired behavior change for the client and are being implemented with integrity. If they are not, the Clinical Director must implement new strategies, and train team members, utilizing principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to bring about the desired behavior change.


The ABA Clinical Director must have strong clinical experience, problem solving and critical thinking skills, and perspective on Applied Behavior Analysis and how it related to individuals with autism.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate and conduct monthly internal team meetings and other staff activities.
  2. Conduct training of RBTs and BCBAs as needed.
  3. Assist with hiring and training of assigned staff.
  4. Assist staff with providing services as needed.
  5. Work in conjunction with leadership team to ensure agency success.
  6. Provide informal feedback and formal performance evaluations for staff as needed and in accordance with agency policies.
  7. Ensure staff meet credentialing, training, and requirements as needed.

Duties/Responsibilities:


Clinical Management and Responsibilities

  1. Utilizes the principles of ABA, including reinforcement prompting and fading, shaping, chaining, maintenance and generalization, extinction and punishment (including DTT, NET, FBA, FAA, and other behavior analytical procedures as      needed) to develop, update, and analyze goals and data in collaboration with program manager.
  2. Responsible for intervention planning and implementation of clinical cases and develops behavioral strategies that also assist the parent or guardian in implementing the behavior plan.
  3. Conducts, writes and reports initial assessments and 6-month progress reports in a timely manner.
  4. Reviews, provides feedback, and approves all client initial reports and progress reports written by the program managers in a timely manner.
  5. Oversees clinical services being provided in clinic, home, school, and community settings; responsible for ensuring quality and integrity of services.
  6. Shares responsibility with program managers for maintaining the client's schedule of sessions and for tracking and coordinating all hours and parent training sessions.
  7. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, participating in professional societies. 
  8. May attend IEPs, conduct school observations and/or support parents in communication and collaboration with schools and other service providers.
  9. May conduct and attend parent meetings and trainings.
  10. Conduct and assist program managers with all steps in insurance appeal process, peer-to-peer reviews, and any other necessary processes regarding insurance and authorization approvals/denials.
  11. Shares responsibility with program managers to track and ensure appropriate supervision requirements are being met for RBTs monthly.
  12. Conduct BCBN/BCaBA supervision and maintain all necessary documents as required by the BACB.
  13. May be responsible for small caseload of clients and all program management responsibilities related to client services and hours utilization.

Program Coordination

  1. Guide the direction of program services to maximize client outcomes, customer satisfaction, profitability, productivity, efficiency, and achievement of strategic goals.
  2. Ensures compliance regarding legal, ethical, and safety issues including working with families and vulnerable populations.
  3. Maintains respect and confidentiality for all clients and acts in compliance with the BACB.
  4. Communicate with other professionals in relation to clients to ensure appropriate treatment and collaborations between services.
  5. Responsible for management of referrals, intake process, and waiting lists.
  6. Coordinate services with outside agencies, schools, insurance agencies, or other relevant agencies and providers.
  7. Implement and enforce program procedures, as appropriate, to improve the overall operation and effectiveness of services.
  8. Other duties as assigned.

Data Management

  1. Oversee and ensure appropriate utilization of client billable hours across all codes.
  2. Coordinate all reporting and documentation relating to program.
  3. Develop all required reports at request of CEO.
  4. Monitor utilization of services and staff productivity.
  5. Program Relations

Fiscal Management

  1. Responsible for development of and performance of service line budget and financial goals.
  2. Monitor performance with budget projections and growth expectations.
  3. Oversee systems to monitor billing documentation and assure appropriate plan utilization and payment for services provided.
  4. Ensure proper patient billing, keeping current and adding new insurance providers.
  5. Market services in a manner that enables budget and program expectations be met.

Requirements

  •  Knowledge and experience with VB-MAPP, ELF, PDDBI, PEAK, ABLS, AFLS, Vineland, and other behavioral assessments
  • A creative, flexible, self-motivated and energetic team player
  • Superior skills in time management, observation, analytics
  • A knowledge of Discrete Trial Training, Verbal Behavior Training, Natural Environment Training, data collection procedures, graphing, and computer skills is required.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks.
  • Proficient knowledge in Applied Behavior Analysis and relevant changes, progress, and updates within the field.

Education and Experience:

  • Holds a master’s degree and BCBA certification from the Behavior Analysis Certification Board.
  • A minimum of 3+ years of experience in the field of ABA.
  • Experience supervising BCBAs and RBTs in a clinical capacity.
  • Experience conducting BCBA/BCaBA supervision.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires the ability to sit, stand, kneel, bend, twist, stoop, crawl, run, and reach in all directions.
  • Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 35 pounds; upper body leverage strength required.
  • Ability to work and think under pressure.
  • Requires close work, finger dexterity, good vision, hearing, oral communication, and critical thinking on a regular basis.
