About the Department
Performs individual assessments and treatments for those offenders identified to have mental health conditions while incarcerated in the Pueblo County Detention Facility. Identifies and implements mental health treatment services for the purpose of stabilizing incarcerated individuals, ensuring continuity of treatment and medications, and successful transition from incarceration into the community.
Rate of Pay
$31.10 - $46.65 Hourly
(Although the entire range is posted, this position starts at $31.10 per hour.)
Position Duties
- Performs intake assessments on individuals who present with mental health conditions and/or needs.
- Performs individual counseling services to clients enrolled in the Jail Based Behavioral Services (JBBS) Program.
- Documents and manages all clinical and relevant information on client services performed; enters into CIVICORE or designated Office of Behavioral Health (OBH) databases.
- Maintains client’s paper health records.
- Develops and implements treatment and transition plans for clients; coordinates with Mental Health Case Mangers and JBBS staff to arrange appointments for continuity of treatment and medication services.
- Collaborates and coordinates mental health treatment services with the Bridges Program, Forensic Navigators, community agencies, and medical vendor’s clinical and psychiatric staff.
- Acts as a liaison between Colorado Mental Health Institute at Pueblo (CMHIP) and RISE (Restoring Individuals Safely and Effectively) Program of Arapahoe County to coordinate treatment and services for clients returning from competency and/or restoration processes.
- Testifies as a technical expert before legislative committees and in other public forums.
- Tracks client progress following release and meets with clients at re-entry office, as needed, to continue and/or restore recovery support services.
- Gathers and manages information on services, referrals, and follow-ups; provides monthly statistical updates on the mental health population served.
- Attends staff meetings, in service and peer reviews, and professional conferences as request/required.
- Maintains license/certification requirements required to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Performs other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must be at least 21 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED, and a driver’s license. Candidates must also have a minimum of 3 years of experience in mental health treatment or human services, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), and one of the following:
- Master’s degree in counseling from a Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs (CACREP) approved program or equivalent
- Master’s degree in psychology, sociology or related field with a Doctorate Degree from a CACREP approved program or equivalent
- Master’s degree in social work from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) approved program or equivalent
The selection process includes, but is not limited to, a panel interview. Prior to employment, candidates will complete a background investigation, polygraph examination, and physical examination to include a drug screen. The expected duration of the selection process will not normally exceed two months. Candidates not selected may reapply in the future. This position is grant funded.
